Dancehall deejay Tommy Lee Sparta was forced to spend the holidays in jail, but it appears he has not let his confinement dampen his Christmas spirit.

A leaked prison video of the Under Vibes singer was shared on social media today, which showed Sparta merrily dancing in his signature style as his fellow inmates cheered him on.

“A suh jail house nice a Jamaica,” said one Dancehall fan.

“Only ting u can do keep u spirts high,” added another.

“Man used to dis,” one fan quipped highlighting the fact that Sparta has had several run-ins with the law over the last six years.  However, the current charges may be his biggest legal obstacle yet.

During a routine traffic stop on December 14, Tommy Lee was detained by police after the discovery of an illegal 9mm pistol with an extended magazine containing 18 rounds of ammunition.  Sparta was allegedly found with the gun and ammunition in his waistband, sources say.

He was charged the next day and faces up to 5 years in prison for the offenses.

The entertainer, whose real name is Leroy Russell, is being represented by Donahue Martin and Queen’s Counsel Tom Tavares Finson and is scheduled to appear on January 6, 2021, in the Corporate Area Parish court to face the charges.

Police have also indicated that Russell is currently the subject of other criminal investigations.
