Coming on the heels of his collab with Dancehall deejay Charly Black for the Party Animal remix, Colombian Reggaeton singer Maluma, has linked musically with yet another Jamaican, this time for a music video, which features Miss Universe Jamaica 2017, Davina Bennett.

Bennett, who was also the second runner-up in the Miss Universe competition that year, behind Miss Colombia and winner Miss South Africa, posted a video of herself and the star on her Instagram page a few days ago fraternizing in Cartagena with the singer on a couch.

“Mamacita y Maluma Baby! Big tings a gwan ina Colombia! @maluma.   Another day on set!” Davina captioned the post, before later adding: “Thank you for all the love! I appreciate it! Truly! #staytuned it’s bigger than you think!”

In the selfie video filmed by Maluma, the singer, after addressing the camera in Spanish, turned to the beauty queen and told her in English to say “Mamacita”.   A laughing Davina immediately complies.

It would appear that Mamacita could be the name of either a new song by Maluma, or is simply a reference to the fact that Bennett will play the role of his love interest in an upcoming music video, which the two have been shooting in Colombia.

The literal translation of mamacita is “little mother” but the figurative and more accurate translation is “beautiful woman or girl”, which is effectively, a man’s perception of a woman as the object of his desire.

There were scores of congratulatory messages which were evoked by Bennett’s post, many of them from Colombians, among them curlyv, who noted: “@davinabennett so glad you came to Colombia and got to work with Maluma.   I met him last year too and I never miss his concerts. We love you and good to have Jamaica 🇯🇲 and Colombia together.”

In addition, there were also several of the Clarendon College old girl’s fans who thought that the duo would make a beautiful couple, and said they hoped that it would happen.

“Maaan i wish you guys were a couple lol,” _jamgirl said, while ms.wright__ noted: “Y’all would be a cute couple.”

“Damn y’all would make a beautiful couple,” sheena_bailey noted.

For humble.royal_, he was not surprised that Maluma was enchanted by the former University of the West Indies’ undergrad’s good looks.

“Not surprise them Columbian guys getting ese sentimiento amoroso al ver tu belleza (that loving feeling when seeing your beauty),” he said.

According to Colombian media reports, the 26-year-old Maluma, was indeed in Cartagena recording a music video in Barú, with 24-year-old Bennett.

“The Colombian ambassador for urban music, Maluma, filmed a music video on the island of Barú, along with the singer of Bazurto All Stars, Fredy Harel, and the finalist in Miss Universe, Davina Bennett,” Colombian radio station caracol.com noted in its English translation on its website.

“The Reggaeton star was accompanied by a strong security device, recording in some locations of the beautiful island territory, where he was transported by motorcycle and was captured with casual clothes.   Little is known about the details of the song. What the entertainment experts do highlight is that once again the territory of Cartagena is chosen as the stage to highlight the product of great artistes,” it added.

Over on the Miss Colombia La Nueva (Miss Colombia New Era) Instagram page where a post highlighting the Davina-Maluma connection was made, there was also much excitement about her visit to the South American country.

“Miss Universe 2017 second runner-up Davina Bennett is in Colombia. Jamaican arrived in Cartagena de Indias about 6 days ago, and is now in Medellin with Maluma, who catalogued her as a mamacita,” the page posted in Spanish.

“The former Queen of Beauty expressed that she is doing great things in our country. Model of the next pretty boy video?’ it asked.

Most of the commenters noted that the Jamaican, who placed third out of a total of 92 contestants in the 2017 Miss Universe competition,  was extremely beautiful.

“Spectacular that black woman, woman of results, with personality,” xanderew said.

There was one objection which came from sergiogiron90 who complained that the role should have been reserved for a Colombian.

“There are beautiful Colombian brunettes, she is a noo,” he wrote.

Maluma was spotted in Jamaica in October hanging out with deejay Charly Black, spurring speculations that he was about to do another collaboration with the Trelawny deejay.  He also posted images of himself cycling about, playing in the pool, and having a grand time.

However, it might have been that he was scouting for a Jamaican to play the role of his “Mamacita” in his video.
