Denyque Shuts Down Rumors That Her Husband Is Cheating

It’s been years of hearing the same ole gossip churning from the local rumor mill, so Dancehall singer Denyque says she’s not the least bit phased at the accusations made on social media that her husband of over 3 years is a double-dealing philanderer.

Ever since she released her single, Proud Wifey in 2016, Denyque said there has been an endless stream of chitchats that her partner, Careem Mullings has been cheating on her.

She related this as the worst social media experience when posed the question on Magnum TV’s Spice It Up talk show last week as she sat down with the host Spice and co-guest Kemar Highcon.

Denyque explained that while it’s pretty daunting to hear, she understands why people have had that to say, and simply put, they’ve taken the lyrics of Proud Wifey literally. “From Proud Wifey come out, mi husband a give me bun. Him neva did a give me bun before Proud Wifey enuh, but from Proud Wifey, him a give me bun… they are taking the song literally,” she told Spice.

She went on to say that the song was actually not written by her nor reflected a personal experience of hers, but many naturally assumed it was. Proud Wifey was written by fellow singer, Shaneil Muir as a follow up to a previous track entitled, Proud Side Chick in 2016.

The spinoff track is a proud almost gloating assertion that she (Denyque) is indeed the “wifey” in her relationship while reducing the side chicks that like to, “hype wid yuh likkle one touch”. It’s no wonder many took offense and retorted in those hateful rumours.

On the contrary Denyque says that she won’t “swear” that she isn’t being cheated on.

“Mi nuh know if him a give me bun cause I am not swearing for no man,” she said. “And I don’t want him to swear for me either because at the end of the day we are human beings.”
