Reggae and dancehall entertainer I-Octane is giving praise after he escaped with his life following a car crash in California this weekend.

The collision occurred in San Diego in the early morning hours of December 13, and it appears that neither the artist nor anyone else was severely injured. Octane, whose real name is Byiome Muir, has been overseas for several months, but according to the artist’s Instagram, his scheduled Saturday night performance was cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns.

Attending the show’s after-party instead, the Jah Is Life singer was in high spirits mere hours before the accident, which left the front of his vehicle badly mangled. A short video clip showed another vehicle with deployed airbags at the scene, where a female speaking off-screen claims “Some car like hit me and I just lost control.”

Photos of the crash was shared to I-Octane’s Instagram page with a reassuring caption for his 625K followers. ““MISS DEATH TWICE IN ONE NIGHT JAH JAH GIVE THANKS CAUSE AH NUH MY TIME YET MI AND DI G DEM UP STILL, GIVE PRAYS.”

Many prayer emojis punctuated his post, and were reciprocated by his celebrity friends, fans and well-wishers in the comments including Alaine, Denyque, Ding Dong and Dovey Magnum

Queen of the Dancehall Spice, who collaborated with the Hot Ras on Long Division back in 2017 urged caution while offering the deejay comfort, saying “JAH KNOW, Be careful bredda, God is Control.”

Octane, who’s made recent appearances in Panama City and New York, didn’t seem daunted by the show’s cancellation, commenting below footage of the afterparty, “ANYWAY SAN DIEGO CA ME AND TOP RANKS. ENT AGO PUT ON BACK DI SHOW ASAP STAY TUNE BETTA DAYS COMING.”

His typically positive outlook has been strengthened during the pandemic, shown in releases such as Times Like These with Shawn Ice, and his #ioctanemeditationcorna IGTV series. It’s no doubt also contributed to his resilience, after what looks like a harrowing incident based on the photos.

In a follow up IG post, Octane appears refreshed and back at the hussle, asking fans to keep him in their thoughts. He wrote, “ON THE JOURNEY ONCE AGAIN 🙏 SEND UP SOME PRAYER RESPECK TO ALL THE WELL WISHER.”
