With just a few days left in 2020, dancehall artists delivered plenty of exciting music videos this week adding to approaching holiday vibes. Check out our weekly roundup to find out who had a buzz, topped Youtube Trending, and sent tongues wagging with fire visuals.

Unda Dirt – Popcaan feat. Masicka and Tommy Lee

Popcaan finally dropped the overdue visuals for this Fixtape favorite to much fanfare on Friday. When the Unruly, Genahsyde and Sparta bosses link up, it’s a guaranteed hardcore hit or as Poppy would say, ‘Chubble’. The latter had an awesome year with top international features, but is back with the gritty reminder — “Dem coulda run inna di church (grung)/ Killa we guh put dem unda dirt.”

Creative gurus RD Studios flex their cinematic chops for an extended clip with not one, but two versions of the grimy track. If the priest, hearse and funeral settings aren’t convincing enough, look out for Tommy Lee’s dark and dramatic, Hannibal themed verse. Check out the Youtube Jamaican trending video here:

Nah Fi Like – Alkaline

Alkaline premiered another set of long-awaited visuals that did not disappoint. Shot at a sprawling mansion, the striking clip clearly resonated with Vendetta fans, who pushed it to the top of Youtube trending within 24 hours. ‘Bad chicks, glocks and whips’ are all part of the lavish lifestyle he’s earned, but his most intriguing costar was a pet tiger who seemed as calm and at home as Alka at the top of trending charts.

Another single, We Up, currently sits in the top five, and the Vendetta deejay’s ‘formula’ is clearly working for him. Watch the newest masterpiece from ‘The Man Himself’ below:

Bududum – Vybz Kartel

The Worl’ Boss debuted his latest diss track, Bududum, in the early hours of Friday and was #1 on trending in no time. The storyline follows a selector who was beaten for playing a Kartel song and the grisly repercussions from diehard Gaza fans. The song’s beat is a mellow sample by T100 records that effortlessly carries Kartel’s fierce and fiery warnings:

“Buss mi gun inna di p—y face/ big belly Taurus a light up di place/ Louda dan clappas, every baby wake/ Bwoy fi dead, yuh feel di great a wait?…/Buss it up, bududum”. The track joins Its A Sin and Skate as fast-rising releases from di Teacha, proving to naysayers he can still give them ‘hell from in a cell’. Watch the video below:

Sick – Quada

Unruly camp protégé Quada is holding his own, earning recent collabs with the likes of Kemar Highcon and Chronic Law. The Shot N Stunning directed visuals for his new song Sick are a raw showcase of his lyrical prowess. Despite legal woes during 2020, the Well Bad deejay is wasting no time building his fan base and honing his craft.

In the three minute clip, glaring police lights pull the audience’s attention to the lone deejay and his prodigious flow: “We well bad, sick inna we head/ Couple Guinness an a high grade spliff inna mi head/ Diss Unruly yuh wi b—t dead/ St. Thomas right back to Naggo Head/ Sick inna mi head yuh know seh man grimy a way/ Go fi ‘matic dem an di MAK 90/ Deven designer cyah try style me/Ratchet ah mi side chick, mi ‘matic ah mi wifey.” See the full visuals below:

Hygiene – Spice

A recent shopping experience caused Queen of the Dancehall, Spice to ‘feel a way’, and it looks like she’s got even more to get off her chest. Her new song and video Hygiene is a shout-out to the ladies who keep themselves fresh, clean and groomed at all times. The blue-haired diva starts off strong — “Some gyal just start bathe since Covid come out” — and spends the track defending all the ways she practices proper hygiene.

Directed by Magical Studio, the clip shows Spice in military mode and with her flexible girl scout infantry in other scenes. No need for her to feel a way about support from her fans, as the clip has racked up 100K views and counting. Check it out here:

Sasco vs Assassin – Agent Sasco

Dancehall veteran Agent Sasco takes the saying ‘your only competition is your past self’ literally on this new creative track. The song is framed as a lyrical battle, with Agent Sasco talking to the hungry-for-hits, 19-year-old version of himself, Assassin. Directed by Jay Will, the clip playfully pits Assassin against Sasco, each with their own distinct flow, philosophy, and even dress code.

Only a microphone separates the two men, whose mentalities might differ but who clearly share the same aim to dominate lyrically. As Sasco sums it up, “the agent a roll with assassin so you know we must hit the target.” Check out the amusing, eponymous clip here:

Lifetime/ Compass, Wayne J

Child star Wayne J is all grown up with a brand new track to prove it. The 17-year-old deejay who hails from Waterhouse reaped success at a very early age with songs such as Hard Work, Stay Inna School and Chikingunya. His latest release, Lifetime/ Compass is a ladies anthem directed by iiFold showing off Wayne’s seasoned spitfire delivery in different settings.

Pivoting from previous topics and material, the deejay proves his abilities outside of his current portfolio and hints at future greatness. Check it out below:

Obvious – IWaata

IWaata brings out members of his community to demonstrate his greatness in his new video, Obvious. The deejay’s fanbase follows him through the street during a festive looking roadblock, bearing signs such as “Yeng Badness” and “Play A Run The Place”.

Intence and Queenie also make cameos as the Ratingz emcee tells trolls, “ah we a run di place an it obvious/go do di maths, go check the figures/ money man a hunt like me nuh have enough/ ay mi nuh follow man a leader.” Watch the rest of the clip including the sultry villa scenes here:

Double Tap Remix – D’Angel & Queen Ladi Gangsta

D’Angel & social media personality turned deejay, Queenie are all about empowerment on the Double Tap Remix. The fun video features the two female emcees looking ultra sexy and having a blast. From go karts to goofing around, the pair showed out in the remix for Queenie’s viral March 2020 hit.

Both seemed excited to work together in their promotional Instagram posts. Queenie wrote, “Crazy and mad link up queenii and Dangel double tap remix coming out fi all a the p—y power @dangelmusic girllllllll well done.” Click below for the Double Tap Remix.
