The Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) is investigating how Kingston-based Dancehall deejay Intence, came to be decked out in its official land variation digital combat uniform (DCU) in contravention of Jamaica’s Defence Act, a source has told DancehallMag.

The deejay posted a photograph of himself today, illegally decked out in the military uniform clad from head to toe in boots, cap, and pistol holster.  The only thing that gave him away that he was not a real soldier, was that he had failed to tie the boot laces the proper military way.

On Intence’s page today, his fans were impressed, oblivious of the fact that his actions were considered criminal, some refering to him as Lieutenant Colonel Yeng boss, among other made-up titles.

However, it is a different story this afternoon in Up Park Camp, the headquarters of the  JDF, as soldiers of all ranks are furious at Intence’s actions.

“Look here, that man (Intence) has to go to prison!  Prison! And anybody who gave it to him, prison!   That uniform is supposed to be worn by JDF soldiers only.   And they need to hold him, rub him and make him tell them where he got the uniform from.  It is simple. Because obviously someone gave it to him… maybe one of those guys that they dismissed kept the uniform.  It is criminal to wear the army uniform, right,” a senior military officer told DancehallMag.

The photo, which has been liked over 27,000 times, appeared to be taken on the set of a music video.  Intence and another rising Dancehall star Skillibeng have been trading razor-sharp bars on several subliminal diss tracks over the last two weeks.

The Yeng singer is expected to release a video for a new single called Pull Up later today.

The JDF changed its uniform in January 2015 from the disrupted pattern material (DPM) camouflage uniform that it had worn since 1992 to the DCU which has built-in security and identification features that are not easily duplicated.

The decision was made after the JDF leadership recognized that larger militaries worldwide had been phasing out the DPM uniforms, leading to uniform stocks becoming accessible to civilians as well as hardened criminals.

Back then, the JDF had said that civilians in possession of DPM gear had presented a breach of security as “these uniforms often end up in the hands of criminals” as had been discovered in several joint police-military operations at the time.
