COVID-19 has stopped everything but the creative juices of Jamaican artistes. Since the pandemic we’ve gotten a constant stream of new music. Ras-I released his energetic single Kingman Ting last month and now follows up with its dynamic music video.

Being at home won’t stop the groove, Ras-I brought the vibes to the party. He offers a well-needed vibrant track with a catchy rap on a bouncy rhythm. Produced by himself and Koastal Kings, Kingman Ting speaks to living in a Kingly/regal way, think: ‘What would His Imperial Majesty do?’ Ras-I preaches love and upliftment in this percussion-soaked track.

“One general, one Don, fi Haile Selassie buss a one skank; now the whole world’s singing one song… Me coulda never deny the king enuh,” Sings Ras-I, celebrating H.I.M. in his distinct style. This follows the well-tooled middle eight that has us doing a dance-break with all the nicely layered instruments.

“Them a call me a Genna because me uplift the yutes fi live betta; seh the world already have enough steppa; show them a different way fi stack cheddar.”

Kingman Ting empowers each of us to live highly and to consciously raise the vibrations of youth within society. Befitting the upbeat track, the music video projects a good time with Ras-I implementing the goals he sings about in the tune. It starts with an overhead shot of Ras-I driving through lush flora, depicting the prosperous life of a king. He then takes us through the adventures of the Kingman on a daily. The video was directed by Latykim, shot by Cesar Buelto and Toni-Ann Davy, edited by Maya Wilkinson, and powered by The Niche Entertainment Group.

Leading up to the release of the video, Ras-I tweeted that the “video [is] just full of love, vibes and the message [of the song].” We agree, let us know your thoughts by commenting on our social media pages.
