It’s easy to forget that some of our most beloved entertainers have a life outside of the realm of music. Many have families with a spouse and children. They may be living a different life than the ordinary, but they have real-life, everyday moments as well.

Dancehall artiste Movado reminded us of this reality with a beautiful photo of his family in the United States.

The Gully Gad recently shared a photo, now buzzing on social media, reminding us, perhaps unintentionally, that he’s a family man who participates in and enjoys his children’s milestone moments.

Celebrating his daughter Daisy’s birthday, the adorable photo shows Mavado, his wife Monique McKenzie, and his young son Vuitton helping his daughter to cut her birthday cake sitting on the counter next to three birthday cards.

This is a great moment for Mavado, whose real name is David Brooks since he’s had to confront the unfortunate reality of his teenage son Dantay Brooks’ incarceration and fighting a legal battle for him.

Knowing this to be a tough ordeal for the ‘Life’ singer, dancehall fans are happy to see Mavado enjoying some family time.

Fan nickiempress commented on the photo, posted on The Tropixs saying, “I’ve always admired how humble he is and seeing him in this light, being a family man… Respect Movado 💯❤️.”

Another added, “❤family 💯🙏guide and protect them.”

On his Instagram page, Mavado wished his daughter a happy birthday. “Happy birthday baby I love you ❤️.”

Fans flooded the page with birthday wishes of their own in response. Apachentertainment11 wrote, “Blessings on blessings straight princess 👸🏽 🙏🏽🙏🏽 happy birthday 🥳.” “Princess Daisy happy birthday beautiful,” said kereberry_new_era_ent.

Mavado also shared on his Instagram page a video of his little princess Daisy, pretty in pink, getting her eye makeup done, with the caption 😂😍🌹❤️🔑.

In general, Movado has maintained a low-profile with his family, including his marriage.

Not all family affairs can be kept in the dark. Very public is the story of his son Dantay being charged jointly with 23-year-old Andre Hines two years ago, for the June 5, 2018 murder of Lorenzo Thomas, aka ‘Israel’ or ‘Trulups’, in Cassava Piece, St Andrew. The charges included conspiracy to murder, shooting with intent, arson, and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition. It’s alleged that Dantay had given Hinds, an order to behead Thomas.

According to a witness statement given to the police, the allegation is that the teenager gave instructions for the killing. “Memba di boss want him head,” it’s alleged that Dantay said to his co-accused, Hinds.

The beheading was botched, the statement revealed when Hinds attempted to carry out the order, only managing to partially sever the victim’s head. On his appearance in Criminal Court, Dantay denied the allegations brought against him.

Needless to say, Mavado has had his share of ups and downs the past couple of years, where family issues are concerned, and to see him basking in a happy family moment is refreshing.
