TeeJay To Drop EP, Talks Changing Up Style For ‘Gold Leaf Riddim’

Dancehall artiste TeeJay who is known for hits like Owna Lane and Uptop Boss said he made some adjustments to his style and delivery for his latest single Who You.

Who You dropped one week ago on the Gold Leaf riddim, which is produced by Jerome Elvie of Natural Bond Entertainment. TeeJay explained that the song is a testament to his versatility noting that he had to take on a hardcore persona in his latest single.

“Music has its time, so we have to do a lot of different songs and be versatile. Who You right now is the perfect song. It’s about the topic and connecting to the people. It’s dancehall so more while we haffi go hardcore wid di ting more,” Teejay explained to DancehallMag.

TeeJay also used the occasion to share what it was like working with producer Elvie on the track which he said was an overall positive experience

“Elvie a good youth and a real youth. So from him send me the rhythm, we haffi just voice. Its music and it has no boundaries. Him a invest back inna the music, and him naw do this for hype, him a do this for longevity,” Teejay said.

“The rhythm have nuff vibes. From me hear it, the song just come outta me head.” he added.

Teejay also shared that he is putting in the work on his EP which he intends to release before the end of the year.

“Its gonna be lit,” he said.

With the increase in COVID-19 cases locally, TeeJay encouraged Jamaicans to protect themselves from becoming infected.

“We have to stay safe. Remember to wash your hands, practice social distancing and wear your masks. Stay focused and keep safe,” added TeeJay.

The self-styled Up Top Boss who emerged on the music scene less than five years ago has been making a strong impact with his hard-hitting and poignant lyrics.

Earlier this year TeeJay debuted a new slimmer physique noting that he had made some lifestyle changes in order to lose weight.
