The man in the spotlight today is none other than Vybz Kartel, as he appears in two hot collabs, one with American rapper Busta Rhymes in the new single The Don & The Boss and another with British-Jamaican dancehall artiste Lisa Mercedez on a new music video for Run Dancehall.

The Don & The Boss is a club banger for sure, Busta Rhymes teams up with the Worl’ Boss for what sounds like a pretty energizing track. The fresh collab debuted under Conglomerate Entertainment, Inc. & the GAZA Empire and will be featured on Busta’s 10th studio album, Extinction Level Event 2: The Wrath Of God.

A huge Vybz Kartel supporter, Busta announced the exciting news of the collab with his friend and also showed a mini promo video on Instagram on Wednesday (August 19). The clip not only captured them both in the studio making music but also revealed the inception of the project dated back a whole 10 years ago. There were also scenes of Rhymes’ visit to Jamaica in 2014 to support Kartel during his murder trial in Kingston.

The Don & The Boss single finds both heavyweights using their lyrical prowess to paint rich imageries of their ideal girl, for Kartel ‘The Boss’ who intros the track, it’s Nicki Minaj and for Busta ‘The Don’, it’s Megan Thee Stallion. They take turns delivering the hook, “Wha gwaan baby …shake it fi di boss/don, get naked fi di boss/don, x-rated fi di boss/don …” marshaling their love interest into subservient mode.

Their teaming on the track creates a terrific fusion. Busta’s deejaying is on point and so are his rhymes and of course Kartel’s poetic dissemination is always fire. The track’s release today has already amassed over 60k views in under 24 hours. Listen more here –

Run Dancehall with Lisa Mercedez on the other hand is doing much better in streams, having released later today, has almost 100k views.

It seems fans are excited to finally see the new music video for the track, which was officially released on May 2 and has racked up more than 1 million views on YouTube.

Directed by Warrior Films JA, the visuals come to life with a surge of animated dancers at a street party fiercely dropping some dynamic dance moves in sync with the track’s riddim.

Lisa appears to be in another location as GAZA affiliate Sikka Rymes dials her up on his phone for a video call where she dishes her segment of the collab. “The Worl’ Boss cant stall, yo Addi ah di king and him Run Dancehall,” she choruses throughout the single.
