Think morning dew in the misty clouds of a cool mountainside. It’s Sunday, and time doesn’t exist here. Add the sweet sounds of chirping birds overhead, groovy guitar strings, and you’ll get all the feels of Sevana’s new trance, If You Only Knew.

One of In.Digg.Nation’s resident songbirds premiered the project today, and it is a near four-minute daydream that should never end.

Inspired by her ex, Sevana effortlessly oozes soft falsettos about the extremes she would undergo for the man she loves.

“I originally wrote [this song] about my ex who was incredibly supportive of my work and at the time we decided to stay together despite being long distance,” Sevana said in an interview with Nylon.

The video delineates just how far she would go for her love, as Sevana traverses the streets of Dakar, Senegal, by bike, taxi and even foot. The messages of sacrifice and unconditional love are amplified when she finds herself in another country for the one she loves, this time by sea in a boat in Portland, Jamaica. A scene of Sevana singing a cappella is cushioned towards the end of the video, showcasing her masterful range.

Sevana partnered with director Yoram Savion on this “two-person crew” video shoot, which was done in December. The opportunity came when Sevana went to Dubai that month to perform at the Sole DXB Festival, courtesy of PUMA. She decided to go to Senegal to shoot the video as she was also directing a film series in that country. She secured her wardrobe for the music video through her PUMA sponsorship, and also paid homage to the women of Senegal by purchasing printed pieces from different markets which she rocked as headpieces throughout the video.

Sevana has shaped her career with soft, sultry sounds delivered via reggae-RnB-esque tracks and this song undoubtedly complements her catalogue. Producer Kelsey Gonzalez is the other half of this ethereal record, equally responsible for all eargasms with his bass guitar. It’s a similar kind of reggae romanticism embedded in Chronixx’s Eternal Light, which Gonzalez produced alongside his band the Free Nationals.

“Such an honor to have worked with @lordkelstro of @freenationals on this one,” Sevana said in a promotional Instagram post. “When @protoje played me this beat, I was inspired to write immediately. This song is really special to me. I hope it gives you as much joy as it does me.”

If You Only Knew is the first single from her upcoming debut EP, Be Somebody, to be released by RCA through a recent signing by the Protoje-led In.Digg.Nation label.
