Up-and-coming Dancehall artiste Starlord, whose real name is Kern Bailey, has released a new track using his unique blend of Jamaican and UK influences. The name of the track is Alone and features Zed Bias.

Starlord is just 19-years-old and has been making some inroads into the Dancehall genre. He is originally from Kingston Jamaica and the enterprising young man is the Founder Of the Majesty Cross Clothing Brand.

Alone was written and produced by Zed Bias with the lyrics being written and performed by Starlord. The song definitely has some legs as his sound is not that of the typical Dancehall artiste. He has a deep voice that blends with the beat well and his use of a more “yardie” accent works well. The beat is slow enough to have some international appeal because the lyrics are clear.  Alone is also quite catchy and has an old school Dancehall appeal.

The song’s content is also pretty good and he has the makings of an artiste that can get major airplay in years to come because of his storytelling abilities. The track is about a break-up and the artiste’s feelings on having to deal with the loss of his significant other.  “Me thought you would ah dey dey till the end. Me think you woulda dey dey till me old and grey and dead,” he sings in one line.

As the song goes on he describes the decline of the relationship like the fact that the person starts showing up late for their rendezvous and stops replying to social media messages. It’s a topic that many young people around his age have been facing as they enter the dating world.

He stitches the lyrics together well and is able to keep the listener interested in the song for the duration of the track.  “What me used to get one time, you ah reach late, me and you use to on time, you ah see meh text them when you online, shoulda know you stay from long time,” he adds as he describes his mental anguish and the fact that he no longer believes in love after being hurt so badly.

The artiste doesn’t have many songs out yet but he possesses a great deal of talent and if he keeps at it and receives the right direction through management, he may grow into an established Dancehall artiste.
