The Caribbean Club at the prestigious Harvard University recently honored dancehall entertainer Spice with the ‘Caribbean Entertainer of the Year’ award.

She was presented the award at the club’s third annual jubilee – ‘Many Nations, One People’, Spice on Saturday, February 29. In true Spice fashion, the entertainer wore a glamorous pink dress, matched with her signature blue hair for the cocktail event.

In a clip posted on her twitter page, she was seen being escorted by security as Harvard students and staff clamoured around her, in amazement.

The event was hosted by actress and comedian Jessie Woo, who is of Haitian descent. In another video clip from the event, Jessie Woo is seen twerking and dancing in front of Spice as she performs in front of the audience.

During her speech, Spice said that she was “truly honored” for the award. She is also the first female Caribbean entertainer to receive the award.

“Out of so many talents throughout the entire Caribbean, I’m really humbled. Thanks to the entire Caribbean club for choosing me. I will continue to inspire the women of color #Wegotthis 💪🏾 Harvard I love you all @harvardcaribbeans @harvarduniversityboston The little poor girl from Old Braeton Jamaica did it again”, she captioned a post on Instagram.

Spice, who is arguably in the prime of her career, has had a monumental two years. Her EP, “Captured went number one on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart following its release in November 2018. And now as a regular cast member on VH1’s reality TV show, Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, she has gained a massive number of new fans and more international recognition.

With singles like “Rolling” and “02.20.2020” to kick off the new decade, Spice is now gearing up to release a successful debut album later this year.
