Govana surprised a teenage boy whose house was destroyed by fire last month and his classmates who stepped up to help, by handing them a cash donation. The 4th Genna artiste joined with media personality Khadine ‘Miss Kitty’ Hylton and corporate sponsors to provide supplies and support to the youngsters.

According to ‘Miss Kitty’, the Champ singer made a surprise donation of $100,000 in cash to Omar Lindo, a third form student at Jonathan Grant High School whose family lost their home to fire on November 12th in Nugent Street, Spanish Town.

Six of Omar’s classmates stepped up (along with the school’s football team) and helped to raise funds after the blaze. Their efforts had caught the attention of Miss Kitty who donated supplies and rallied support from corporate sponsors like Digicel which donated a laptop, groceries and school supplies and mobile phones.

Govana also surprised Omar’s six friends with a donation of $15,000 each, according to Miss Kitty. He explained that he was “touched by the effort that his six friends and the football team put in”.

“I am a Spanish Town youth and I am very touched when it comes on to Spanish Town, because growing up in Spanish Town, I never had a lot of good influence,” he continued. “So from where I am coming from to where I am now, I will try to assist the Spanish Town youths; it is Christmas and it is time for giving, love, family and sharing, so this is about helping to get back a ghetto youth on his feet.”

Omar was overwhelmed with gratitude for the outpouring of support. “I feel good and happy about what happened and I just want to tell everyone thanks for what they did for me and I am very grateful for it,” the boy said.

Govana’s much anticipated debut album, which is titled Humans and Monsters Are Not The Same, is expected to be released on January 10, 2020.
