Foota Hype Confirmed To Be In ICE Detention

After fans of Oneil ‘Foota Hype’ Thomas expressed concern over his disappearance for five days, it has been confirmed that the dancehall selector is now in US Immigration custody. He is expected to appear before an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) hearing with an immigration judge on Monday, December 23.

The information was confirmed by Jamaica’s ambassador to the United States, Audrey Marks, who told THE STAR.  “We can confirm that Mr Thomas was detained on Saturday, December 14, on arriving at Port Everglades Seaport aboard the Independence of the Seas, from Falmouth, Jamaica. Mr Thomas was detained for further review of his travel documents and admissibility status.”

Hype will have legal representation when he faces the court. He is expected to get a visit from the Consulate in Miami today at the detention center he is being held at in Florida.

Fans had noted that Hype who is always active on various social media platforms had been silent for at least five days. According to reports he was taken into custody soon after disembarking from the Welcome to Jamrock cruise ship in Florida.

Foota Hype, is well known as the ‘King of Mixup’ because he comments on a wide variety of topics and has been living in the US for many years.

According to ICE there are a number of reasons that a person can be detained.
“These include, but are not limited to the person having arrived at the border without a visa prior to formally applying for asylum or refugee status; an outstanding removal (deportation) order on record, either pending or past due, or missed prior immigration hearing dates or committed a crime, or multiple crimes.”

His fans took to various social media platforms to call for the release of the ‘global Viral King’.
