For the third time Collie Buddz has risen to number one on the Billboard Reggae Albums Chart. This time his album Hybrid got him there. Colin Patrick Harper which is his given name shot to fame in Dancehall after his infectious single ‘Come Around’ back in 2006.

Many assume that he is Jamaican but Buddz is actually a Bermudian reggae artist. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, and his mom is from Jamaica. His father is Bermudian.

‘Hybrid’ was released on May 24, and has 10 tracks which include collaborations with some big artistes in the game like Stonebwoy, Dizzy Wright, Johnny Cosmic and Tech N9ne. He’s come a long way and continues to steadily build his repertoire. His first album, which was a self-titled one, peaked at number 47 on the Billboard R&B Hip-Hop Songs Chart.

Hybrid which features the monster hit ‘Love and Reggae’ which has become an anthem for dancehall lovers around the world has cemented his place in the Reggae/Dancehall genre. Buddz’s ascendency to number one dethroned the 11-week reign of World on Fire by Stick Figure, which is now at number two.

This is Buddz’s third album and he has steadily been making inroads into the industry. After studying audio engineering at Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida he went on to perform on Shaggy’s 2007 album Intoxication on the track “Mad Mad World”.
He’s also been featured in a 2009 remix of Kid Cudi’s single “Day ‘n’ Nite”. Buddz who owns his own record label called ‘Harper Digital’ has sold out venues across the US and worldwide.
