Excited music fans filled the Half Way Tree Transport Centre in Kingston on Friday, December 7 for the Mello FM Road Show which satisfied the audience with performances from a variety of entertainers, including Davianah, Abijah, Yellow Man, Gospel artistes Jermaine Edwards and Kevin Downswell, and Romeich Entertainment associated artiste, Moyann.

The highlight of the night though was D’Angel and Beenie Man‘s performance.

Although they performed separately they threw comedic lyrical jabs at each other during their acts.

It was D’Angel who initiated it all. She took to the stage as one of the headliners, donning a stylish black and white outfit. She began with some of her hits including No Worries featuring Spice. As her performance was heating up, she declared “Me and Beenie lef from 19 how long, him still a look back di wuk, I cya understand!”

As expected, the crowd responded in an uproar, loving the entertainment value, especially considering that Beenie Man was backstage at that very moment, awaiting his upcoming performance.

As it was time for Beenie to take the stage, the audience stood in expectancy. Beenie proceeded to rock the crowd with his enthusiasm and dance moves with tracks such as Girls Dem Sugar. It was when he was riding the riddim for his song, I’m Okay/Drinking Rum & Redbull that a fan in the audience exclaimed that the King of the Dancehall should call D’Angel on the stage. The fan said, “Call Up Yuh Wife Beenie!”

Right there and then he responded to D’angel’s prior statement.

Beenie Man Said, “Angel come up in a black and white. Whine up her body and a sing pan di mic. A talk bout Beenie Man dis, Beenie dat. Angel, I’m okay!” The crowd erupted in laughter and cheers, enjoying every bit of what was taking place.

Social media has now been reacting to videos that are being shared about the incident. Some persons believe D’Angel is downgrading herself by calling Beenie Man’s name during her performances, even as he refused to dance with her while on stage during her birthday party celebration last year, and seeing that he is in a committed relationship with People’s National Party Youth Organization president, Krystal Tomlinson.  Others believe it is all just entertainment.

Some were disappointed that Beenie Man responded.

One thing is for sure, both of these dancehall veterans dominated the stage and are still making their mark in the dancehall industry. Beenie Man recently released his new song, Who God Bless and D’Angel dropped a collaboration with Jamaican rapper, Jakal titled Me Alone.
