According to Koffee’s international hit song Toast – “wi nuh rise and boast” but it seems at least one industry personnel is of the opinion that she’s now arrived at the point where she should.

This interview, released late last week in the infamous Star had Headline Entertainment’s Jerome Hamilton quoted saying “She’s on a level of name recognition that we haven’t seen for someone out of Jamaica in quite some time. It’s been a long time since a name has been called like this. Chronixx’s name was called recently and has been revered and rightfully so on many levels. But with all due respect, Koffee is a bigger name,”

The Star; well known for their forward headlines, shared a post to their Instagram page captioned – “With the heights Koffee has managed to reach over the past 12 months, at least one industry player believes her name has eclipsed many in her generation.

Users on Twitter promptly began to share their opinions in tweets that gathered several retweets on just how distasteful they thought the interview was. Many agreed that it was not a good look trying to pit Koffee up against her mentor. (Now a pon stage wid Chronixx I a sing)

Meanwhile, other dancehall artistes took to the Star’s Instagram post to state their views in the comment section.

“OH WOW WHY????? ONE JAMAICA STAR!!!!” – a comment coming from the official page of Morgan Heritage.

“Delete this foolishness. Post about something more positive and constructive. And stop segregate the artists they are both great in every way. Jamaica Star, shame on y’all” wrote Teflon from Chronixx’s team. He went on to add in a separate post: “Jamaica Star, build we artists and not tear them down, that’s why the Jamaica music industry is so competitive. EACH ONE TEACH ONE. Stop compete and collaborate. Get you minds out the gutter. They All winners”.

Producer Stephen McGregor chimed in to say “That’s always been a problem with our industry and culture. As someone rise the first instinct is to compare and divide. All other industries get it, we can co-exist and be BIG at the same time… that’s how you win”

Konshens then shared just how proud he was to see everyone being on the same page when it comes to promoting separation in the Jamaican music industry.

”its good to see a general disapproval of fxxkery. More of this needed on many levels in our country. Too many of us take the approach of “if it don’t affect me everything good”. Laugh at the next man an no realize seh di laugh a come roun inna circle. Love how everybody a bun out dis fxxkery reasoning yah.

Koffee and Chronixx have yet to comment.
