Jamaica-born, New York-based Dancehall singer Nigy Boy has shed light on his remarkable journey from premature birth and blindness to academic success and musical stardom.
The debut of Nigy Boy’s new Rvssian-produced Judgment Day track on the Payment Plan riddim, has sparked renewed praise of the Continental singer as a potential saviour of the Dancehall genre, which some argue has been waning in the shadow of Trap music’s emergence.
The up-and-coming Dancehall artist Nigy Boy is set to grace the stage at Reggae Sumfest at Catherine Hall this July.
Hailing Nigy Boy as a visionary, following the ascension of the singer’s Continental song to number two on the Reggae iTunes chart, Bounty Killer on Sunday, likewise upbraided his compatriots who voiced songs promoting taboo sex acts on Rvssian’s Dutty Money riddim.
“Took a blind man to see what Dancehall needed.” That is one of the hundreds of comments that have been flowing in since yesterday’s official release of Nigy Boy’s Continental, a song recorded on Dancehall producer Rvssian’s Dutty Money riddim which is being embraced by music lovers for having lyrics that are free from expletives and depravity, unlike his counterparts who have voiced on the beat so far.
