Morgan Heritage is a Grammy-winning Jamaican reggae band formed in 1994 by the children of veteran singer Denroy Morgan. Widely known as the “Royal Family of Reggae,” the group built its reputation on rich harmonies, conscious lyrics, and a polished blend of roots reggae, lovers rock, R&B, and dancehall influences. The core lineup has featured siblings including Roy “Gramps” Morgan, Peter “Peetah” Morgan, Una Morgan, Memmalatel “Mr. Mojo” Morgan, and Nakhamyah “Lukes” Morgan, with the band emerging from Jamaica and later becoming internationally associated with Brooklyn as well. Their early albums helped establish them as one of reggae’s leading modern acts, and their 2016 Grammy win for Strictly Roots cemented their global stature. The group has been especially noted for socially aware and spiritually grounded music that bridges traditional Jamaican roots with crossover appeal. Following the death of Peetah Morgan in 2024, Morgan Heritage’s legacy has continued to be recognized as one of the most influential family groups in contemporary reggae.
