Skillibeng Earns First Gold Certification In US For ‘Jump’ With Tyla And Gunna

Skillibeng

Dancehall star Skillibeng has earned his first Gold certification in the United States for his contribution to Jump, a 2024 hit by South African singer Tyla that also featured American rapper Gunna.

According to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), the genre-blending single—released on Tyla’s self-titled debut album—was certified Gold on July 29, 2025, after surpassing 500,000 units in sales and streaming equivalents in the US.

In Jump, Skillibeng opens with his patois-drenched flair, which Tyla said “was already perfect,” and which sets the tone for her self-affirming lyrics. Gunna later joins in with a verse, adding a melodic Hip-Hop edge.

Produced by Sammy Saso, the track quickly gained momentum on TikTok, spawning viral dance challenges and driving the song up various international charts. In the US, it peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Afrobeats Songs chart and No. 42 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. It also climbed to No. 38 on the UK Singles Chart, where it spent multiple weeks in the top 40.

The official music video, directed by Nabil, has amassed over 43 million views on YouTube. It showcases Tyla and Gunna in Hillbrow and Soweto, Johannesburg, while Skillibeng appears in a separate shoot in Kingston, Jamaica.

Jump has also achieved Gold certification in Brazil (20,000 units), Canada (40,000), and New Zealand (15,000).  It’s also certified Silver in the UK (200,000 units) and Platinum in South Africa (40,000).

Tyla, Skillibeng, and Gunna performed Jump at the 2024 BET Awards, where she also picked up two awards – Best International Act and Best New Artist.

The new certification marks Tyla’s fourth song to reach Gold status in the US. Her breakout hit Water is currently 2X Platinum in the country, while Truth or Dare and Push 2 Start are Gold.

For Skillibeng, the certification follows his previous Silver plaque in the UK for his 2020 breakout track Crocodile Teeth.
