As artistes scramble to figure out what to do next, many have turned to live-streamed performances as a creative and ingenious way of staying connected with fans, while encouraging and promoting social-distancing and self-isolation.

Jamaican Grammy award winning singjay, Koffee was featured by popular American clothing chain, Levi’s, last Monday night (April 6) performing a slew of hit songs, adding her authentic, rich and deeply rooted Jamaican twist on the chain’s Instagram Live concert series.

The global outbreak of the pneumonia like virus, COVID-19 has resulted in a mass cancellation of hundreds of tours, festivals and entertainment activities worldwide. But some artistes have remained tenacious to stay connected with fans.

Using music as a channel to calm public anxiety, Levi’s has designed a weekday virtual concert, showcasing some of the worlds favorite musicians, dubbed as 501 Live.

“Our Levi’s family, it’s in Times like these that many of us turn to music to feel a sense of community….. Levi’s is proud to bring to you live performances from some of your favorite artists as we encourage you to stay home and stay connected. We’ll be live every weekday at 5:01pm PST. We are unified by music and all in this together,” the clothing brand said in a caption to its over 7 million followers.

Fighting the spread of the coronavirus, Koffee urged fans to stay home and enjoy the luxury of social media as a tool for entertainment activities.

“Hi, this is koffee and I’ve teamed up with Levi’s to encourage you to stay home and stay connected,” said the grammy kid.

Supporting a worthy cause, she remarked that she is delighted to form part of the event as it acts as a financial support system for students who are struggling to pay their tuition fees.

“This event is in support of my favorite charity , mentoring and training leaders for tomorrow. A charity that support students and their family with tuition fees. Over the next few months donations will be extended to support these families in need due to the pandemic. We’re in this together, stay safe,” she said during her performance.

Serving up a musical wanderlust infused with magical beats from a guitar she held passionately playing, Koffee flung listeners in a roots reggae medley. She kicked started her performance with Burn, then seamlessly made her way into Raggamuffin.

“That was Raggamuffin, those were two of my songs and now I’ll be performing for you a cover by Frank Ocean. I am thinking about you. If you know it, you can sing along with me,” the 20yr old songwriter shared.

She then took an unexpected spin performing a cover song by Frank Ocean titled I am thinking about you.

The Grammy sensation ended the night with what she calls a “do over” of Burn. Fans took to the comment section to share their love and admiration for the fast rising musician.
