Beenie Man Attends Dave Chappelle’s Standup At The Eventim Apollo: Photos
King Beenie Man was treated to a night of top-tier comedy when he attended Dave Chappelle’s standup at the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith, London on Tuesday.
The Dancehall icon had no reservations attending the show despite the comedian’s recent debacle over transphobia in his latest Netflix special, The Closer. Neither did Chappelle’s fans apparently, as Tuesday night’s show—the first of a series running from Tuesday, October 12 until October 21—was completely sold out.
In photos on his Instagram stories last night, Beenie shared the occasion, standing in front of the theatre, along with his backstage access after the show with Chappelle.
The 48-year-old Jamaican entertainer has certainly been keeping busy since his arrival in the UK. Last week he was spotted at Porte Noire’s celebration for The Harder They Fall movie among some of the cast and crew including Idris Elba, Deon Cole, Edi Gathegi, and others.
Yesterday, he visited Chinatown appeared in-front the ‘Get Up Stand Up! The Bob Marley Musical’ billboard at the Lyric Theatre near Piccadilly Circus in London’s West End.
It had been 12 years since Beenie Man performed live in the UK, returning for a performance at the Yam Carnival at Clapham Common over the Bank Holiday weekend in August.
He is set to perform alongside Nigerian Afrobeat sensation, Burna Boy at the COKO Festival in Manchester on Sunday, November 14.
The Dancehall King will release his highly anticipated but delayed album Simma sometime this year.
As for Dave Chappelle, along with his string of shows at The Apollo, his documentary, Untitled, is to have its European premiere in London this weekend, introduced by the comedian himself. The film was shot in his hometown and depicts the challenges facing a rural village in Ohio during the early days of the pandemic. It received its world premiere at the Tribeca film festival in New York this summer, and will come to the Cineworld in London’s Leicester Square on Sunday October 17.
