Pops YG is accustomed to commanding attention online. The flamboyant dancehall entertainer is now back in police custody in Trelawny, where detectives are reportedly investigating allegations that he engaged in sexual activity with a minor.

The social media personality, whose real name is Ansel Fairclough, was arrested late on Monday, 26 October, his attorney, Donnovan Collins, confirmed. Collins declined to discuss the reason for the arrest but said his client is to face an identification parade.

Law enforcement sources told The Gleaner that officers from the Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse, known as CISOCA, arrested Fairclough when he reported to Falmouth Police Station under the conditions of his pre-charge bail.

The allegations remain under investigation. The reports did not state that he had been charged in connection with the latest matter.

The arrest is the latest turn in a turbulent period for a personality whose social media appearances have kept him firmly in the public eye.

In late September, police arrested Fairclough at his Trelawny home while he and several other men were livestreaming on TikTok. Collins said at the time that his client was being held on suspicion of breaches of Jamaica’s lottery scamming law.

He was subsequently released on J$300,000 pre-charge bail while that investigation continued. The earlier arrest and the latest allegations are separate matters.

For now, the entertainer remains in custody as the latest investigation proceeds.
