Rygin King

Rygin King’s long wait behind detention walls is over. The dancehall star just landed in Jamaica on the afternoonn of Thursday, October 22, choosing home over continued US immigration detention amid concerns about his health, according to sources close to the entertainer.

The Tuff deejay opted for what those sources described as “voluntary deportation,” ending months in custody while leaving questions about his US immigration future unresolved.

His homecoming follows the reported dismissal last week of a New York weapons and ammunition case that had complicated his immigration proceedings. That dismissal has not been independently confirmed through court records.

Rygin King was detained by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement in March 2026, reportedly just hours before a scheduled green card interview. His detention stemmed from unresolved charges arising from a 2024 New York weapons case, to which he had pleaded not guilty.

Sources close to the artiste say his health became the deciding factor in his choice to return to Jamaica rather than remain in detention.

Those sources also believe the reported dismissal could open a path to revisiting his green card application. However, there has been no confirmation that the application has been reinstated or that he has permission to return to the United States.

The precise legal terms of his departure also remain unclear.

For now, the biggest development is closer to home: after months in US custody, Rygin King is back in Jamaica.
