The most interesting part of this story is not that two hot dancehall acts linked up, it is that nobody planned it.
Skippa and Jahvillani were simply in the studio listening to riddims when a particular YGF Records production stopped them both cold, and the song basically wrote itself from there.
Producer Tevino Richards of YGF Records described the moment as pure instinct. “Both artistes were in the studio listening to a selection of riddims when this particular production caught their attention.
They immediately started vibing to it, exchanging ideas and building off each other’s energy,” he said.
The track, titled “False Teeth”, is set to drop on August 28 and sits inside the “YGF Turns 10” EP, a project marking a full decade of the label operating in the dancehall and reggae space. That context matters, because Richards is treating this collab as more than just a single.
Both Skippa and Jahvillani are from St Ann, Jamaica, and Richards has been open about wanting that shared roots to mean something on the record.
I wanted to use this record to represent something bigger than just music, unity,” he said, pointing to the fact that both artists have built separate fan bases and carved out their own lanes independently.

Jahvillani broke through in 2019 with “Wileside Government” and has kept a steady run of releases going since. Skippa, on the other hand, is sitting at what many would describe as one of the hottest stretches of his career right now, with a string of hits backing that reputation up.
Richards framed the collab as a chance to pull those two worlds together. “Both artistes have built their own fan bases and created their own paths, but this collaboration is an opportunity to bring those supporters together and celebrate the talent coming out of St Ann,” he added.
From the label’s side, publicist Karl Durrant is not being shy about expectations. “Skippa, Jahvillani and YGF on one track equals to a banger,” Durrant said, adding that YGF has a track record of building unity within the genre alongside its commercial wins.

The confidence is not coming from nowhere. YGF Records has spent ten years putting together projects that have landed in the mainstream, and Richards is a chart-topping producer with a reputation that carries weight in Kingston and beyond.
Pairing that with two St Ann artists who each have genuine momentum behind them is a calculated move, even if the song itself came together by accident.
What makes “False Teeth” worth watching is the tension between those two things, a spontaneous studio session that became a deliberate statement about where dancehall talent is coming from right now. The August 28 release date is close, and the fan bases on both sides are already paying attention.
