Vybz Kartel Taps Mavado, Wizkid, Spice For ‘God & Time’ Album
Vybz Kartel and Mavado will appear together on Kartel’s upcoming album God & Time.
The collaboration, titled Hype Life, is one of several features announced for the album, which is due Friday, June 5, via TJ Records/Vybz Kartel Muzik and Zojak World Wide.
Kartel’s team revealed the full guest lineup on Monday. It includes Nigerian Afrobeats star Wizkid, Dancehall heavyweights Mavado and Spice, Puerto Rican artist Farruko, Shenseea, and Skillibeng.
He and Mavado have collaborated before, including on Sunrise, released in 2006 on the Ghetto Whisky riddim, and Happiest Days, released in 2007 on the Laminated riddim.
Their rivalry later dominated Dancehall in the late 2000s, with the “Gaza” and “Gully” camps becoming shorthand for one of the genre’s most intense public divides. Their clashes at Sting, including the 2008 festival, remain part of Dancehall lore.

They also appeared together on DJ Khaled’s 2025 single You Remind Me.
Their new collaboration arrives ahead of Reggae Sumfest, where both artists are expected to headline later this summer.
God & Time spans 14 tracks. Spice appears on “Confession,” Wizkid on “Stay For The Night,” Farruko on “Casi Casi,” Shenseea on “Panic,” and Skillibeng on “Try Again.”
Kartel has already released the title track and “Panic” with Shenseea.
“I love the well-roundedness of this album, and the features reflect that,” Kartel said in the release. “We wanted to give people a little bit of every vibe they want to hear this summer. No matter what mood you are in, there is something on here for you. And as you can see, some of the collaborations could only come together through God and Time.”
The album follows Party With Me and Heart & Soul, both of which received Grammy nominations. It is also being positioned as one of Kartel’s most personal projects since his release from prison in July 2024, after spending 13 years in custody.
The project was produced by Kartel and longtime collaborator TJ Records, the team behind Viking (Vybz Is King) and King of the Dancehall, which included the RIAA Gold-certified single Fever.
