Dancehall Veteran Mad Cobra Recovering After Florida Turnpike Crash
Dancehall veteran Mad Cobra is counting his blessings after being involved in a motor vehicle accident on the Florida Turnpike over the weekend.
According to sources close to the artist, the deejay escaped serious injury and is now recovering after receiving medical attention following the crash in South Florida.
A source told DancehallMag that Mad Cobra was initially treated and discharged from hospital on Saturday before returning the following day for additional medical tests as a precautionary measure.
“He was a little shaken up but he was discharged on Saturday with minor injuries,” the source said.
“The deejay went back to the hospital on Sunday but you know him is a man weh take care of himself physically over the years, so he is OK.”
News of the accident quickly spread across social media, prompting an outpouring of support from fans, fellow entertainers and members of the dancehall fraternity who flooded comment sections with prayers, well wishes and messages of encouragement.
The deejay, whose razor-sharp delivery, commanding voice and uncompromising lyrical style helped define one of dancehall’s most explosive eras, remains one of the genre’s most influential figures.
Emerging during the late 1980s and exploding into superstardom throughout the 1990s, Mad Cobra carved out a reputation as one of dancehall’s fiercest and most charismatic performers.
His biggest crossover success came with Flex, the infectious hit that introduced millions of listeners outside Jamaica to dancehall’s unique sound and swagger.
The deejay would go on to score numerous hits including Yush, Bad Boy Talk, Shoot to Kill and Gundelero.
