MoneyDonRed Drops Emotional ‘Jah Lives Forever’

California-based Reggae artist Money DonRed has high hopes for his latest single ‘Jah Live Forever’, a moving tribute to the powers of the Most High.

“The inspiration behind the song was my deep reverence for “Jah”. The song represents my sincere expression of gratitude and veneration towards the Almighty, intending to inspire others to acknowledge and reverence, His perpetual presence and guidance in our lives,” the artist whose real name is Astil Franklin, said.

The initial feedback to the song — produced by by Bread Organization Records and Money Don Records — was so overwhelmingly positive that he bankrolled a video for the project which was released last week. The video has over 500,000 views so far.

He grew up in the Washington Gardens area of Kingston and later attended Dinthill Technical High School in Linstead. He fell in love with music through his parents’ collection of Bob Marley’s vinyl records from a young age.

“I was deeply moved by Bob’s powerful message of love, unity, and redemption. His iconic voice and legacy inspired me to pursue my musical journey, and I began writing and singing my songs with a passion for making a difference,” he said.

He rechristened himself “Money DonRed”, a nickname given to him by his godson, Brandon.

“Red symbolizes wealth and prosperity, while “Money Don” represents my growth and evolution as a recording artiste,” he said.

The artist’s Rastafarian values and holistic lifestyle emulates that of his favourite artist, Bob Marley.

“I aim to carry on Marley’s legacy, spreading love, positivity, and inspiration through my music and keeping his spirit alive for a new generation,” he said.

He is currently working on an EP titled “Jah Live Forever” which will feature seven inspirational tracks. Some of the songs including the title track, as well as ” Thanks and Praise”, “Come Together”, “Humble Yuhself”, “Do Right”, “Confusion, and “Found a Joy”.
