Beenie Man’s Daughter Ashley-Jade Reacts To His Engagement To Camille McIntosh

Beenie Man’s 28-year-old daughter Ashley-Jade Davis claims that her father’s relationship with British businesswoman Camille McIntosh is all for publicity.

On Thursday, the lovebirds shared an engagement announcement, which received congratulatory comments and references to exes who didn’t get a ring. Then came Ashley-Jade.

“Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dum making their PR relationship official,” she commented. “How sweet,” she ended with the yawning emoji.

The Georgia-based caterer (also a registered nurse and singer), was introduced to the deejay’s followers in 2021 through a series of Instagram Story posts where he highlighted some of his children. Ashley-Jade was the only child he tagged, adding the caption, “Look at my beautiful daughter… They grow up so fast.”

She then proceeded to share a bit about herself, like the fact that she’s unapologetically and happily bisexual, adding, “My daddy rich, my mama holds me down.”

But Ashley-Jade isn’t new to the spotlight. ‘The Doctor’ used to bring her out on stage to perform with him from as early as age 10, and she even made her recording debut in 2017 with their collaboration Super Dad

The sentiment of the latter wasn’t the same as she went back and forth with Beenie’s supporters in the comments of the proposal post on Thursday.

“This man is really something,” she said in one post. “Only his kids know the real him. Not all of us are willing to keep it 100 though. I don’t live off him, so, I don’t mind.”

Some onlookers defended the ‘King of Dancehall,’ deeming her statements embittered.

“So because he wasn’t a great father, you become bitter and take moments to expose his personal business, for what exactly?” one person asked. “It doesn’t get you brownie points or a better father. Mad weird behaviour.”

Ashley-Jade clapped back, “Sweetie, he hasn’t been a father to any of his children. As a matter of fact, he’s done and said the most disgusting things. I’m gonna take whatever moment I feel like taking to state FACTS. One thing for certain, I’m the one that never needed brownie points.”

“U must of been one of his groupie’s daughta he accidentally made,” another user told Ashley-Jade.

“Awwe you know nothing do you?” she posed. “I’m just the one child that never made the decision to leech.”

Another person wrote, “But if u hate him so much and he so terrible, don’t acknowledge him either, act like he don’t exist. A couple time now u comment and yet u say u nah leech.”

Ashley-Jade responded, “I’m gonna comment. It is what it is love but a leech? Now we’re taking it too far.”

Some netizens defended her right to express her feelings according to her experiences with the ‘King of Dancehall’.

“No make nobody bully u,” said one user. “Every heart know its own hurt. Chat anything weh make u feel pleased. Make dem go weh.”

Ashley-Jade said, “Period. The girls that get it, get it!! I’m gonna say whatever I feel like saying. They don’t know this man. I’ve known him all my 28 years, wtf.”

When some users expressed concern over her mental health, she assured them, “I’m actually in a good space. I just have time today.”

Beenie’s parental skills have come under scrutiny for several years.

Mothers to two of his children, D’Angel and Dancehall Queen Carlene Smith, called him an absentee father in September. It’s a label that continues to haunt the Girls Dem Sugar deejay though he has verbally denied the claim, accenting his truth with family photoshoots and a restored relationship with a former accuser, his daughter Desha-Gaye Davis.

During a recent appearance on The Cut, businessman Gary Peart questioned how the deejay excels in music while maintaining his family, considering he’s away for shows every week.  “Mi mek time man, mi carry mi pickney dem…” Beenie quickly inserted. “Mi nuh run joke enuh.”

He would later change his statement when Peart foxily challenged the practicality of taking all 12 children on the road. “Mi cya carry 12,” he said. “Some a dem live a foreign, so when you go a foreign, you go visit.”

Meanwhile, Desha-Gaye has been a public supporter of his current relationship, the opposite of which ensued while he was with public speaker Krystal Tomlinson three years ago. Of bigger coincidence is that former relationship was also considered by some a social media campaign which portrayed him as a family-oriented man. From Tomlinson sharing videos with their baby Xiah and taking his children Ikyra and Mosiah to school, to them going on family vacation, all seemed picture-perfect in the Davis household until they split in 2021.

Beenie is quite used to his children having opinions on his love life. Following his breakup with Tomlinson, Ikyra described her father as a hopeless romantic of sorts. During an Instagram Live, she clapped back at critics who blamed him for the relationship’s demise.

“My father is a very loving man,” she said. “I feel like he gives his love too much. When him love, him love very hard, and him very emotional – the opposite of me, but I’m getting there.”
