Spice Serves Top-Notch Visuals For Gospel-Reggae Song ‘Spice Marley,’ Dedicated To Her Late Father

Spice in ‘Spice Marley’

As Queen of Dancehall Spice embarks on what she has termed her ‘new life,’ fans woke up on Friday morning (March 24, 2023) to a Gospel Reggae song called Spice Marley, which is dedicated to her late father Anthony Hamilton.

Hamilton, a Rastafarian, who Spice has said was very fond of Reggae legends Bob Marley and Dennis Brown, passed away when she was just nine years old.

As the song’s title suggests, the Queen parades in the official visuals with long faux locs—mirroring the ones members of the Marley family have.

Directed by BlingBlang, the aesthetically pleasing music video finds Spice serving a myriad of other outfits in multiple scenes, including one where she appears to be performing on a stage while playing a guitar.

Besides that, she’s also featured lying in a glass canoe on the river, riding a bicycle in boots and a Rastafarian-coloured shirt, and traversing across an open field with a camel. It is safe to say that one of Spice’s mandates for the project was to show off the natural beauty of Jamaica.

“Here I am, the one that overcame everything that was meant to put me down to shame/ All of my enemies fighting in vain/ ‘Cause I walk with the spirit of God I proclaim/ I beg you Lord don’t leave my side/ Journey with me on this earthly ride/ You heal my pain every night I cried under the shadow of the Almighty God I abide…” she sings passionately in this lyrical prayer and testimony.

Exactly a week ago, she went Live on Instagram to explain her medical woes over the last six months,  and to declare that she has turned a new leaf in her life that will involve more positivity.

In an Instagram post today, the 40-year-old asked her supporters to give the new song a chance, even though it’s not her typical work.

“Another song out today ‼️ it’s called “Spice Marley”. Besties I know this is not my usual but please take this journey with me while I give God all his praise. This is my Gospel song in a reggae form. I decided to release it today on my first day back to work. God is truly amazing 🙏🏾 Go stream it now and tell me if you want the music video 💙💙💙”

By all indications, Spice’s fans are loving the versatility. They flocked the comments section to give their feedback.
