Nicki Minaj, Skeng Hit The Road At Trinidad Carnival 2023
Carnival revelers lost their minds yesterday when Nicki Minaj arrived in the streets of Port of Spain for Carnival Monday’s J’ouvert parade. Next to the Queen of Rap was her Likkle Miss collaborator Skeng, who accompanied her through the procession.
The two arrived with an entourage and were spotted holding hands, walking into the fete. They were later joined by Trinidadian Soca music stars Machel Montano and Destra on board a party truck, working its way around the route.
“S/o to @skeng.don for reppin us,” Nicki wrote on an Instagram post today, sharing footage from her trip with the Gvnman Shift deejay.
The Super Freaky Girl hitmaker flew into Trinidad on the weekend for the annual world-famous carnival.
She had a celebratory link-up with her fellow Trini legends, Machel, Destra, and Patrice Roberts.
“Legendary footage with the greats of my country,” she wrote in the caption of another IG post. “I couldn’t be more proud if I tried. I reppin dat red dat white dat black I reppin my real flag. Wish my grandmother was alive to see this. Wish daddy was alive to see this. See you tmrw, Trinidad. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾”
The Trinidad-born rapper recently appeared alongside Machel Montano and Destra on the remix of their single, Shake the Place.
Leading up to carnival week, she heavily promoted the single on IG, sharing their new music video superimposed with older music clips of herself in Pound The Alarm.
For today, Carnival Tuesday, the Parade of the Bands, masqueraders adorned in beautiful costumes will jump and cross the Savannah stage in Queen’s Park. Nicki is already geared for the event, and shared that “I’ll have my wings on” to join them at the fete.
Other Jamaican stars spotted in Trinidad & Tobago for the week-long carnival festivities were Shenseea and Tarrus Riley, who both performed at the Vibes With Voicey concert at The MECCA on Thursday night (February 16).
Ding Dong will also headline the Momentum concert at Queens Park Savannah today (February 22) alongside Nailah, Skinny Fabulous, Lyrikal, Tempa and others.
