Music producer Sean ‘Contractor’ Edwards is still basking in the release of the Tropical House Cruises To Jamaica: The Asian Edition.

According to him, the seven-track project, which is headlined by former West Indian cricketer Chris Gayle has been making rounds in the intended circles.

“So far, the project has been received favorably by Reggae fans in America, and Europe by the hardcore Reggae fans,” he told DancehallMag.

The December 23 release was also co-produced by Vertex Productions, GSharp Music and Space Age Rasta.

Edwards further noted that Gayle was placed at the forefront because of his legacy on the eastern continent and overall charisma.

“The Asian markets we are going for with this album are India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka because Chris Gayle is a cricket icon there and he has now ventured into music as an artist,” he explained.

In February 2021, Gayle, who dubs himself the ‘Universe Boss’ had revealed that he was planning a serious Dancehall music career, while announcing a new single and the launch of his ‘Triple Century Records’ label, almost a year after he was recruited by Dancehall artist Stylo G for a Too Hot Celebrity remix.

Gayle had also collaborated with Tanto Blacks for We Come Out Fi Party and later released the single Blessings.

The director of Contractor Music Group went a step further by justifying the amalgamation of acts chosen to make up the final set.

“Chris Gayle was selected because he is a vibe machine and party animal. Lauryn Hill was selected because she brings cross over appeal. Sizzla, Capleton and Morgan Heritage were chosen because they represent they core of reggae music fans . I always want to give new artists a break and this time they were Lady Marga MC from.the UK, Kali Ranks from America and Inoah from Jamaica,” Edwards said.

On its release date, the album made the number one spot on the iTunes Reggae Chart in the US.

While he is hopeful that the project will eventually become certified gold, the experienced producer shared some insight on what he believes constitutes a ‘good’ album.

“A good album is one that lasts for generations and where consumers play all the songs without skipping any,” he simply said.

In the meantime, more plans are already underway for this year, as the music executive and his team looks to broadening their horizons.

“Currently, we are putting together a follow up album to this one for the Middle East and more of Asia. This album will have Chris Brown, Jason Derulo,  Chris Gayle and new artists Fyah George and Yankee Spanky,” he revealed.
