Skeng’s legal defense team will be granted access to raw footage of an alleged altercation between the Dancehall artist and Norman Manley International airport authorities, a judge ruled today in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court in Half-Way-Tree.

The judge ruled that the raw footage be made available to the Protocol deejay’s lawyer’s before the next court date on March 9, 2023.

Skeng is facing charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest in relation to an alleged incident that occurred at the Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA) in Kingston in June 2022.

The Crown had the opportunity to view the security camera footage of the area where the alleged scuffle took place, and a determination was made that the raw footage of the entire incident should be made available to the defense.

“The judge determined that the footage was edited and made a request that the full raw footage be made available by the next court date,” the deejay’s high-profile attorney-at-law Christopher Townsend told DancehallMag.

Townsend said that the edited footage was not sufficient and that the defense team needed to see “the footage where he was pepper sprayed.”

“We didn’t see that to make a determination as to whether the pepper spray was warranted. We maintained it was never warranted,” he said.

The 21-year-old artist, whose real name is Kevaun Douglas, had his bail extended. His co-accused, Cara Wilson and Shaquille Kelly, also had their bail extended.

Skeng was charged on May 24 for allegedly behaving disorderly during an argument with security personnel at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston.  He pled not guilty.

He was attempting to board a flight to Trinidad, to headline the Revival Return Of Dancehall event on May 28.

Skeng is the second most viewed artist in Jamaica on YouTube over the last 12 months racking up 100 million views, according to the platform’s Music Charts.

His single Protocol with Tommy Lee Sparta, which Queen of Rap Nicki Minaj has hailed as the “baddest” song in years, has over 37 million views on the platform.

After showing love from a distance for months, Minaj remixed his single Likkle Miss, and even gave him a shout-out during her acceptance speech at the recently held Video Music Award (VMAs). The two subsequently met in New York to shoot the official music video.

He is booked for the return of the Sting stage show to be held on December 26, 2022, at the Grizzlys Plantation Cove in St. Ann.
