Dancehall artist Jim Kelly is raising eyebrows in the dancehall arena for his steamy collaborative effort Bedroom featuring Bad Gyal Jade.

“That song provided a major springboard for me as it got me noticed by a lot of hardcore dancehall fans and that attention has opened up a lot of other opportunities for me,” Jim Kelly said.

Kelly has now turned his attention towards his latest single, King Gallis, which is receiving a lot of favorable feedback and is produced by Real Linx Records.

“I was recently in Jamaica doing some promotion on the song, and the feedback was very positive. Since arriving in Canada and making the social rounds, a lot more people are gravitating to the record, so we’re just putting in the work and see what results it brings later,” he added.

The deejay is currently in Canada on a promotional run to drum up support for his career. An official video was released for the single earlier this month which has racked up 2,000 plus views since its release.

“The response has been good so far,” Jim Kelly said.

While in Jamaica, Jim Kelly also stopped by popular entertainment podcast THE FIX, where he addressed a myriad of topical matters, including why he severed ties with fellow entertainer Kalado.

When the opportunity presented itself, Jim began to invest in, and manage Kalado. He played the role of investor/manager for approximately three years, but then began to pursue a career as an artist himself.

Two years later, Jim and his cousin, Dwain Robinson, changed the name of their record label from Board House to Real Linx and began carving out a position for Jim Kelly in the Jamaican music industry. He recorded several songs, the first of which was a collaboration with Kalado, titled “On and On.”

Though the record did not catapult Jim into the mainstream, it gave him some much needed attention from key players who began to notice his writing skills and professionalism. The second release was a hardcore Dancehall song called “Nuh Trust Nobody,” featuring another young artist, Bastic which gained traction at most of the major street dances.

The song opened several doors for Jim who invested heavily in its promotion. Jim Kelly recently dropped another song, this one with singer Kamsha Morris, and already he is getting positive feedback from music critics.

When he is not recording and promoting music, Jim stays busy by doing vocal training at the Edna Manley School for the Arts (located in Kingston, Jamaica). He also spends a lot of time with his children.
