There will be a hearing this Friday, June 24th in the St. Catherine parish court regarding the murder trial of a businessman who was charged in connection with the 2019 fatal shooting of female entertainer Keshan.

The case should have been called up on June 6th but had been postponed.

The businessman, 34-year-old Tony Martin of Sharper Lane in Old Harbour, St Catherine, was charged on December 15 last year following a ruling by the Director of Public Prosecutions. He was offered bail when he last appeared in court.

Sources told DancehallMag that Martin may be slapped with an additional charge regarding wrongful use of his firearms at his next court hearing.

Initially, Martin told investigators that he was acting in self-defense after being attacked and stabbed by the entertainer.

Keshan, whose real name is Keneisha Brown, was shot in Old Harbour on July 20, 2019, during a dispute with Martin, a licensed firearm holder. She was a resident of Hibiscus Drive in Marlie Mount, Old Harbour at the time of her death.

Police reports are that Brown and Martin were at home in Old Harbour when an argument developed between them.

According to the police, one round was discharged from the firearm which hit Keshan in her upper body.

The entertainer reportedly died while undergoing treatment at a hospital.

Although she was 24 years old, dancehall fans all over the world became familiar with her name as she recorded several hit singles with incarcerated dancehall superstar World Boss Vybz Kartel such as “Bubble Up Your Body”. “Don’t Lie”, “Kill Or Die“, and “The Goods“.

At the time of her untimely death, Vybz Kartel himself took it to the Gram expressing his shock and pain, he wrote:  “Some tings so hurtful ya fi just f***in bawl yow. RIP Kesh,” sharing a photo of her adding later “Di flesh gone but the soul and di memory a forever,” in another post.
