Dre Island Shares New Song ‘All Night’ From Upcoming Sophomore Album ‘High Times’

Reggae crooner Dre Island has given listeners a taste of what’s to come on his sophomore album, with the release of the first single on the project titled All Night.

The complete eight track album dubbed High Times is slated for a June 3, 2022 release. This comes after his 2020 debut Now I Rise.

All Night is a collaboration with Carlio, and has an accompanying music video directed by 300k.  Dre and Carlio reach euphoric heights with their love interests as they galavant through a magical forest ride.

“All Night is about good times and vibes with your loved ones, friends and family, especially coming out of this restricted time frame because of the pandemic. Now we can go back out in the night and party from 10pm until 6am,”  Dre Island explained.

In the music video, the entertainers can be seen enjoying a joy ride at nighttime, with his life interest even thrusting herself through the opened sunroof at times. They eventually come to a halt at a beautiful lookout point which shows a vantage view of Kingston city.

Carlio, on the other hand, is seen sitting in front of a camping tent with his “lady friend” as they get cozy by the campfire.

According to an official release from Dre Island’s camp, his album will show versatility with a mixture of different artists on it.

“The album’s title track featuring dancehall prodigy Skillibeng is a straightforward celebration of simple pleasures—papers and good kush—paired to the sounds of swirling key chords and a thick trap bassline produced by Jafrass,” the statement read in part.

“As the album progresses, Dre Island shifts to the upbeat tempo of contemporary tropical dance music on “High With You,” a classic tongue-in-cheek weed anthem alluding that the plant is a close friend. A video for “High With You” is set to be released with the album. “Take Me High” is a slower, more contemplative ode to ganja that reworks Louis Armstrong’s lyrics about “trees of green” into the more smokeable type. Roots reggae legend Richie Spice links up with Dre Island on “High Grade Smoke,” produced by Jamie Roberts. “With a vision so clear, meditation pure, so don’t partake if you’re not really sure,” flows Dre Island as he extols the virtues of the herb, capping it off with a warning label for responsible use only.”

Producers on High Times include Kushface, Green Lion Crew, Che Big 12, Zimi, TJ Records and Tac Dem.

Dre Island will celebrate his album release in NYC on June 3 at SNS Bar with sounds provided by Federation Sound. On June 5 he has a special performance in Brooklyn at Prospect Park’s Boathouse and Audubon Centre as part of I AM caribBEING’s special event series celebrating Caribbean-American Heritage month. Dre Island’s High Times Summer Tour will pull up to select cities throughout July and August.
