UTG duo Likkle Vybz and Likkle Addi, the sons of Vybz Kartel, say they remain skeptical about other artists in the industry including their father’s one-time protégé, Popcaan.

Devoted fans of the two Gaza Empire heirs would know how much of a buzz they created back in 2015 with the release of their track, Radio under the moniker ‘PG 13’.

In the single, produced by Bigga DonDon Records, Likkle Vybz and Likke Addi, who were about 12 and 10 respectively at the time, expressed their love for listening to the radio and music from a few favorite artists like their father Vybz Kartel, Mavado, Shawn Storm, Konshens and Vershon.  However, the standout verse was “Mi nah lie still, mi nuh trust Popcaan.”

Flash forward to 2022, the two brothers visited The Fix and were asked by host Naro Hart: “Uno still nuh trust Popcaan?”

Likkle Vybz first responded to say, “We nuh trust nobody and we nuh follow up people,” to which Addi agreed, as they both tried to muffle their laughs.

Though co-host Ari Hammond couldn’t quite contain her laughter, Naro contended, “It’s a serious question, they said it on a song. So I just want know if that’s how dem still feel. It was a big ting when they said it.”

Prior to the release of Radio, Vybz and Addi’s father Kartel had a bitter falling out with Popcaan, after his arrest back in 2011. The Worl’ Boss infamously released a statement from behind bars condemning his former Gaza crew members before announcing the disbandment of the Portmore Empire.

The Gaza boss had called Popcaan, Tommy Lee Sparta, and others disloyal for abandoning him after he was locked up, as neither had reportedly visited him behind bars.

The Worl’ Boss and Unruly Boss would later make amends in 2018.  Popcaan most recently paid respect to Kartel in July 2021.  “Vybz kartel ya real G, a nuff things man learn from you without you even saying a word. Yo respect a forever respect!!!” he wrote.
