Chronixx – Never Give Up

Chronixx’ latest release Never Give Up sounds like a classic Roots and Reggae tune with distinguished acoustics. Aided by a band and backup singers, the Skankin Sweet singer encourages listeners to “never give up” even when life “gets cold” and your hardships feel overbearing.

Lila Iké – True Love

Lila Iké came through for anticipating fans this week with her first musical reveal of 2022. True Love, a powerful new single about balancing life’s unpredictabilities yet, “tryna find the little light that’s left out there in the world” and to choose love even through the darkest times.

Produced by Natural High Music, the song is a love letter to herself. Lila explains in a release, “True Love is a song that I freestyled almost a year ago. At the time I was in a very emotional space and feeling a bit low in energy due to everything happening with the pandemic. I wanted to find a way to turn what I was feeling into a piece that would give others, who may be feeling the same, some hope. The most beautiful thing about this song is that a year later, I’m realizing this song was a personal love letter to my future self on healing and dealing with everything I’m experiencing at the moment. I hope it reaches everyone who needs this energy right now and that it gives them as much light as it gives me.”

Yaksta – Honest

Teaming up with German Dancehall Reggae producers Jugglerz, Yaksta Bush Lawd is vibrant and tuneful in this brand new release Honest. Smitten by his girl, the singer sings, “ I’m just being honest, like a killer I’m obsessed with you… Like a killer you hold me up, baby I’m obsessed,” in the verses.

 Yaksta – Outside Again

Breaking free from the quarantine constraints, Yaksta celebrates his freedom in Outside Again, another collaboration with mixmaster, Jugglerz. “Bro Gad free up road, we out proud”, Yaksta says. Now “every killy have a queen beside ah them” and it’s a time to “rave all night again”.

Busy Signal – Watch Gyal

In Busy Signal‘s new party-banger Watch Gyal, he bemoans men, who in their efforts to control their women, end up losing them to another. Produced by Grammy-award winning producer YoungPow, alongside LionChld, Watch Gyal appears on an old-school, hardcore Dancehall riddim with hints of contemporary sounds.

Busy said he couldn’t resist voicing on the beat. “YoungPow came up with the beat and mi hear it and instantly mi ready and start say some things,” he said. “It’s real dancehall but we tried to keep it modern and relatable, in a gyallis world.”

 Kalyra – One Wine

Jamaican singer Kalyra has something new for music fans heading into the unrestricted party scene now that the lockdowns are a thing of the past. Her new track One Wine, which was produced by Dale “Dizzle” Virgo of DZL Records and Elisha Ellis gives off a feel-good bubbly vibe to return partygoers on the dance floor and encourages those “couple up” moments to dance the night away. “One Wine is a celebration of the reopening of the Entertainment sector in Jamaica, and the return of partying,” shared Kalyra about the new single.
