Sean Paul is fixing to heat up the summer of 2022 with his eighth, full-length album Scorcha, which was delayed but now has a confirmed release date for May 27, 2022.

“The album is called Scorcha because I’m a hot boy and I’m still fresh and I keep on doing my thing,” the Grammy Award winner enthusiastically told Billboard.

“I put out excellence, I’m not just doing this for a buck,” he said. “There are times where I need to present an album and get some money from the label. [But] I’m doing this from the perspective of that euphoria that I want you to feel.”

The No Lie deejay has shared the full tracklist for Scorcha, which includes a handful of buzz-worthy features and the already released Only Fanz with Ty Dolla $ign, How We Do It with Pia Mia, Dynamite with Sia, and 2020’s Calling On Me with Tove Lo.  We’ll get also new mixes for the title track Scorcha and 2020’s Back It Up Deh and Bend You Back.

Sean Paul ‘Scorcha’ Album cover

The album cover features a clean-cut, refined veteran staying true to his signature rude boy expression though a stark difference from his Dutty Rock cornrow days, for which Drake was recently teased for copying.  On the Toronto rapper’s cornrow moment, Paul told Billboard “I’ve had different words about Drake before, and now I can just say this one is fun. Big up Drake.”

The Controlla singer was also transposed onto Paul’s The Trinity album cover subsequently in a fan-made meme, and the uncanny resemblance couldn’t have been denied by Drake, who responded last week: “Damn this is good.”

The Dancehall trailblazer has also unveiled a candid behind-the-scenes vignette today for the music video of the first single, How We Do It that features Pia Mia – his second collaboration with the American singer.

The song, which released earlier this month (March 11) caught fire right out of the gate, amassing just shy of 1 million Spotify streams, in addition to gathering over 900K YouTube views on the music video.

Sean Paul’s last album, Live N Livin, which was released last year under his own Dutty Rock Productions label, is nominated for Best Reggae Album at the upcoming Grammy Awards next month.  He previously won that award with his sophomore album Dutty Rock.

Scorcha will be released via Island Records and is available for pre-order/pre-save HERE.
