Shenseea Shares Megan Thee Stallion Collab From Debut Album ‘Alpha’: Dancehall Fans React

Dancehall star Shenseea has given fans a taste of her debut album, Alpha, which is to be released on March 11, 2022, by Rich Immigrants/Interscope.

Titled Lick, the new song samples the beat and lyrics of Trinidadian Denise Belfon’s Work (1998) and is co-produced by Canadian Murda Beatz, who is best known for a string of platinum hits with Drake, Cardi B, Nicki Minaj, Migos, Travis Scott and more.

Lick, which figures American rapper Megan Thee Stallion, speaks much about ‘tongue-work’ but has also sent tongues wagging on social media.

From as early as Thursday (January 20) Shenseea, whose given name is Chinsea Lee was trending on Twitter when snippets of the song were released.  Between those snippets and the track’s title, it was no surprise that Lick would be a raunchy and rude offering, akin to Megan and Cardi B’s WAP or the controversial Equal Rights by Dancehall singer Ishawna that was bemoaned by some Jamaican fans.

Shenseea pinned one comment under her Instagram post teasing the track, in which a Jamaican fan asked “Ah wah duh f-ck dis” to which she replied, “a suck pu–y song!”

She followed up with Tweets stating that the song was an ‘instructional guide’ on how to perform oral sex on women.  “I always wanted to write a suck pu–y song… some of y’all need guidance on how to eat 🙄,” she wrote.

Released at midnight, the new music video, directed by Shenseea herself and James Larese, took on an even more salacious display, as the two bombshells get too close for comfort for some fans. There — in a land where melting popsicles, cotton candy clouds, and girls dancing atop melting ice cream cones — Shenseea and Megan turned up their sex kitten vibes.

“This cah play ah Jamaica ah bbct😂😂,” said one.  Others agreed, “The jamaican men them not going to like this song 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂.”

“Weh peanut dread deh fi bun out this, dancehall music nuh straight again 😂😂😂😂.”  “Let’s see how the Jamaican selectors gonna deal with this,” added another.

Some fans, like Jasmine Richelieu, liked what the two artists brought to the table.

“Megan do her thing! Wasn’t expecting this from Shenseea (I was surprised hearing this from her) but still has my support 100%. Shenseea, Megan Thee Stallion you never disappoint your fans with great music keep it up the good work but am loving the song I know u have a song ‘foreplay’ but fans gonna crazy expecting u to have better lyrics like they don’t want u to go,” she said.

Thrice Hemmings, added “Nah join noooooo bandwagon! I like the song, it’s sexy. Idk why others are trying to discredit Shenseea. Her lyrics were not as simple as some viewers are making them out to be. Megan and Shen’s energy are what makes the song flow the way it did. The song will grow on y’all just give it time to marinate.”

Many fans praised Megan Thee Stallion for elevating the track, with a spicy rap session to counteract the Caribbean flavor her fellow artist brought to the single.

Tarus Plummer said, “DAMN!! Meg came in and destroyed with her verse!!🔥🔥🔥💪🙌😍 Just WOW!” and Tishawn Diah added, “Megan ate this shit uppp💥. For Shenseea I am speechless 🌚.”

“Meg did that! Expected nothing less from her🤪” and Megan’s Verse is crazy 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥,” added others.

It was just two months ago, in November that the Hot Girl Summer rapper made the declaration on social media that she “definitely” wanted to do a track with the Shenyeng Princess. This came shortly after the two had met for the first time at a BET Awards Show after-party in LA last year summer.

Some fans are however concerned that Shenseea’s contribution was not her best effort, and that she might have “fumbled the bag.”

“Expected waaayyy more from Shen ! Nursery rhyme lyrics while Meg killed it!” said one person.

Another agreed, “I’m disappointed, I was expecting more lyrical creativity from shenseea with this collab. Megan went hard, as usual.”

“Please bring back Rebel and Good comfort Shenseea. Idk who this clone is,” one Twitter user said.

“I hope the smart men and/or women don’t take this as ‘guidance’ there is no ‘put yuh back in it’ when eating the buff,” said another.

“It’s not too late to rewrite this I promise. We will all collectively act like we haven’t heard this I promise. PINKY SWEAR even,” one more displeased supporter tweeted.
