Jah Cure’s Daughter Brings Him Christmas Joy In Jail
Jamaican Reggae artist Jah Cure may have been spending his holidays in a foreign jailhouse, but his 9-year-old daughter Kailani brought him some season’s cheer.
In an Instagram post, Jah Cure, 43, who is currently being detained in Amsterdam, shared a clip of Kailani’s performance during a Christmas showcase held earlier this month, spearheaded by singer-songwriter and 2014 winner of The Voice, Tessanne Chin.
The young singer was doing a cover of Bruno Mars’ Talking To The Moon.
“This brings tears to my eyes and joy to my hear(t) and goosebumps to my skin. It’s all in the blood, proud of you my child to see you progressing in the direction I want you to,” Cure wrote.
The Prison Walls singer was assigned a public defender and he will be summoned to appear at the Amsterdam court in an open session in January 2022.
He was reportedly involved in a stabbing incident with a concert promoter, Nicardo ‘Papa’ Blake. Cure, whose real name is Siccature Alcock, was arrested following the incident in Dam Square in the city centre of Amsterdam on October 1.
Meanwhile, Chin, who made a very lengthy post to her Instagram on December 12, noted that Kailani was part of a voice training program she had decided to initiate.
“A little over a year ago, I took my first steps into a new space that holds a lot of meaning to me. I decided to take on the absolute joy and honour of teaching to an incredible group of kids from ages 6-14. It has been one of the most meaningful and rewarding things I have ever done,” she began.
“…A Very Merry Musical Christmas is the first “Voice Box” production!!!,” Chin added. “Voice Box is the name of our space, it’s our #SingingSquad it is everything to do with the voice and singing but believe me when I tell you there is no box, no roof or ceiling that can contain these incredible talents, instead the “box was created as a safe space for them to be able to grow, learn, nurture, and discover their gifts but also to have fun and express themselves and be seen, heard and supported by their peers.”
The results of the program were evidently more gratifying than the Hideaway singer anticipated and further lifted her hats to the young acts.
“I am so incredibly proud of my young performers and I am honoured to be their Coach. They add to my life in such a tremendous and meaningful way and I am forever grateful to have had the opportunity to work with them and look forward to what the future holds.
