Likkle Vybz, son of incarcerated dancehall deejay Vybz Kartel, delivered an entertaining set at the Island Vibes Tour in Birmingham, London, on Saturday.

Both the young entertainer, as well as his father, who was never granted the opportunity to perform in the UK were promoting the show on their Instagram pages leading up to the big day.

The stage show which was held at the Ladbrooke Hotel also featured 10Tik, Candy Price, Kyodi, and Nvasion.

Eighteen-year-old Likkle Vybz graced the stage alongside his entourage to face the hundreds of screaming fans at the venue. Almost expectantly, he began exclaiming, “Fully Gaza!” and “Free Worl Boss!” which saw the crowd following in a chant. He then segued into his single Fully Gaza which merited a favourable response from patrons. Then, he delivered tracks like Daddy Was A Pilot, Give Thanks and Magneato.

This performance was monumental as Vybz Kartel, whose given name is Adidja Palmer, was not granted a United Kingdom visa by the UK High Commission when he applied in 2011, just months before he was arrested. In April of that year, he was scheduled to tour Europe and perform in Germany, France, and Italy, as well. The plan was to retry his luck in June, however, that too failed. He was taken into custody in September 2011.

In late 2010, Vybz Kartel alongside his protege Popcaan performed at the Amsterdam Reggae Festival in the Netherlands, Crystal Club in Zurich, Switzerland, and Elyesse Montmarte in Paris, France. This was meant to be a warmup of what should have been the 2011 tour.

He is currently serving a life sentence alongside fellow entertainer Shawn “Shawn Storm” Campbell for the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams in 2011. Kartel will be eligible for parole after serving 32 years and six months. Shawn Storm is eligible for parole after serving 22 years and six months. Kartel’s matter is currently before the United Kingdom-based Privy Council. His cellphone, which featured prominently in his 2014 murder conviction, has been examined for tampering.

Meanwhile, many fans were seemingly excited about his eldest’s son performance based on the comments left on Instagram shortly after the performance.

“Yah dweet enuh yute. Love it,” one wrote. Another added, “ Blessings forever my bro.”

And another said, “Gaza nation forever!”

Likkle Vybz is known for other singles like Daily, Summer, and Fresh Pair. However, he and his younger brother Likkle Addi, through the formation of the UTG duo have had their fair share of popular hits including Hear Dem, Skinny Jeans, and Right Now.

Likkle Vybz joined his brother this year by welcoming their first child, each. Since he’s legally an adult, the older brother is reported to have assumed his role as CEO of Adidjahiem Records, his father’s Portmore Empire music label.
