DJ Khaled, Shenseea Collaboration In The Works
DJ Khaled and Dancehall star Shenseea yesterday confirmed their upcoming collaboration on Instagram. The Major Key mogul and producer met up with the Blessed songstress in Miami where they appeared to be on the set of a new project.
Back in August, Khaled posted a Facetime photo of Shenseea which had fans speculating that a joint track was on the way. Yesterday’s link-up included many photo ops at a scenic seaside location and a hilarious dance-off between the two artists.
Shenseea has garnered more and more attention as she continues her US crossover trek and readies her debut album. In recent times, the starlet has been spotted with urban music elites such as Busta Rhymes and Kanye West, and DJ Khaled wasted no time lining up new music after Shen’s glitzy features on West’s latest suite, Donda. Khaled was elated to meet the Trending Gyal ahead of their official on-set antics, and gifted her a bottle of Belaire champagne at the brief meet and greet with her team.
Shen later surprised the Wild Thoughts producer with a few of his favourite treats from luxury pastry brand, Better Than Your Mother’s. “Because you are the best, we brought the best to you,” Shenseea said, unveiling the package. Khaled responded excitedly, “I love this place! Thank you so much, how’d you know?”
In other scenes from their link-up, the two got into a dance battle to Missy Elliott’s 2005 hit, Lose Control, that even got the rap queen laughing at their moves. After Shenseea posted the clip and tagged the Work It rapper, Missy responded, “This dance battle close yall go let @shenseea know who won if she merked @djkhaled or if he snapped wit his footwork,” with a few laughing emojis.
While both Khaled and Shenseea seemed to be having a blast behind the scenes, they were mum on any details that would reveal the reason for the shoot. “We cooking,” Khaled told his followers. “A lot of things cooking. It’s top secret! We doing music, that’s gon’ happen, that’s destined but we also doing some other things too, you gon’ hear about it soon.”
Before the shoot ended, he also took the time out to praise Shenseea’s talent and tenacity. “You make incredible music, your future’s so bright, your voice is special, you’re beautiful, your energy, your confidence is incredible,” DJ Khaled told Shenseea.
