Bronx native rapper Capella Grey has announced a new remix of his hit Gyalis, which will feature Dancehall star Popcaan and R&B sensation Chris Brown.  The remix will debut this Friday, October 1.

Since its independent release back in March, the catchy single Gyalis has been a huge success in the US.  It scored several spots on the Billboard charts, including a new peak at No. 64 on the Hot 100 chart this week, as well as appearing on Billboard’s Rhythmic Airplay, Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, and R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay charts. It also reached No. 1 on Apple’s R&B/Soul charts and took No. 1 on Shazam’s Top 100 in the United States.

The 26-year-old New Yorker, born to Jamaican parents, revealed that “the industry has been embracing me. Big celebrities and legends have been recording with me [and] there are mad remixes on the way,” during a Billboard interview earlier in August. Capella also told radio host Angie Martinez that month that he plans on doing things differently with the track, much like its unique sound, he wants to release numerous remixes that merge music genres.

By then Dancehall artists, Kranium and Jada Kingdom, had already dropped unofficial remixes of the trackGrey also revealed that rappers A Boogie Wit da Hoodie and French Montana had put their spin on the song too. Tory Lanez got in on some of the action, dropping his remix just two weeks ago.

The official music video for Gyalis finally arrived on August 26 to capture exactly how New Yorkers feel about what they have dubbed the year’s summer banger. In just one month the video has stockpiled more than 5 million views on YouTube alone.

Now, Grey has unveiled the first official remix with everyone’s favorite ‘Unruly’ Dancehall star, Popcaan, alongside Chris Brown who is considered one of the most influential, though controversial, R&B singers.

“Aint even do the math. Gyalis now. 94.6+ million streams. gold – now as a producer, writer, mix engineer, artist and young label exec, yo chill,” Grey wrote in a Tweet yesterday. “Thanks So Much Ya. We Just Getting Started! Official Remix Friday Vibe Responsibly.”

With a new record label home in Capitol Records, a new music video of his breakthrough hit, the upcoming Popcaan/Chris Brown remix and others on the way, Capella Grey says he’s just getting his feet wet, but with stardom will not abandon his roots and the culture.

“There’s more music on the way. We just getting started. “Gyalis” is the tip of the iceberg. I want to bring [the culture] back to New York. I don’t like that when New York artists get lit, the first thing they do is turn up in other cities. Why not keep the energy here? Bring the vibes back to where hip-hop started.”

Meanwhile, Popcaan, who is currently overseas working on a new album among other projects, clearly has several surprises and tricks up his sleeves. He’ll also appear on a new track called Vibe with Skip Marley this Friday.
