Shenseea’s co-manager Romeich Major says he is happy to be part of the Magnum’s Top Performa contest, where twelve emerging artists will be given a platform to showcase their talents. Top Performa, Magnum’s latest entertainment project, is a lyrical cypher contest that will be aired as a pre-recorded show, exclusively on Magnumhub.tv.

The Top Performas, that is the four finalists, will receive a share of 2 million Jamaican dollars, and a bonus for the first-place winner who will be given the opportunity to have a song and music video produced by Romeich Entertainment.

Entries were opened on September 3 for interested candidates to download the entry riddim from Magnumhub.tv and submit a song recording no shorter than 30 seconds. Interested candidates have until September 22 to apply, of which twelve will be selected.

The selected twelve will make the show cut, of which their performances will be aired every Sunday for nine weeks, as they face off against each other, freestyling to 16 bars on riddims played by a host DJ. Hosted by Dancehall personality, Bishop Escobar, Top Performa will take the format of three rounds, the preliminaries with the selected 12 then eliminated down to 4 semi-finalists then to 2 finalists, where the Top Performa will be crowned.

Shenseea’s co-manager Romeich Major, who is set to produce a song and music video for the winner of the contest, congratulated Magnum on providing a platform for young, upcoming talents.

“I’m happy to be a part of the Magnum Top Performa project. The industry needs more platforms like this because we have so many talented youths in Jamaica and all they need is the right platform to advance. Big up Magnum once again for offering their platform and I look forward to working with the winner once crowned,” he explained.

Alongside a song and music video produced by Romeich Entertainment, the 1st Place winner will also be receiving 1 million Jamaican dollars. While second place will receive $300,000 and a feature on a compilation rhythm from Romeich Entertainment. Semi-final runners-up will receive $100,000 each.

This is not the first platform created by Magnum to promulgate and uplift the culture as in the past, many artists had successfully used Magnum’s Kings and Queens of Dancehall Tv show as a gateway into the industry.

According to Regional Marketing Manager, Kamal Powell, Top Performa will be another platform providing local and regional entertainment while also allowing creatives to make strides in their careers.

“We are always excited whenever we have a new project, Top Performa will definitely be successful, similar to our other projects. Magnum is happy to be a part of the driving force that constantly propels entertainers to make strides in the industry. I also want to take the opportunity to extend my thanks to Romeich and his team, for seeing the vision and being a part of this initiative,” he said.

Meanwhile, Romeich is also using his platform to assist five young entrepreneurs in establishing their businesses.

“I am reaching out to all young entrepreneurs who need assistance!!,” he said in an Instagram post yesterday.  “If you have a business you’d like help with please send your proposal/business plans to romeichprojects@gmail.com. Please ensure your contact information is in the email.”
