Dancehall starlet Shenseea made waves last weekend when it was revealed she had not one but two features on Kanye West’s hyped-up new album Donda.
The Blessed singer’s list of connections and cosigns has only grown stronger as she prepares to tackle the international market, and her features on Kanye’s record-breaking album have surely given the songstress a career boost. With major clout now behind her pending debut album, here are five takeaways from Shenseea’s new Kanye West features Ok Ok, Pt. 2 and Pure Souls.
Vocal Range
Even before fans heard her lilting chorus on Tarrus Riley’s Lighter, Shenseea has been working hard at improving her sultry vocals. Flexing both her singing and deejay chops on DONDA, she put on a great vocal performance on Pure Souls, adding haunting melodies and vocal runs to the final verse and outro.

The 24-year-old was rewarded for her songwriting acumen which started with 2016’s Jiggle Jiggle and later her Loodi collab with Vybz Kartel, for which she was maligned. In her Instagram Story on Sunday, Shenseea proudly displayed her full name, Chinsea Lee, on the list of composers for her two Donda features, a major move in being known for conjuring up consistent hits.

Shenseea’s Crocodile Teeth freestyle on Hot 97, uploaded on July 28, was what reportedly landed her the connection with Kanye West. On OK Ok Part 2, she delivered knockout rhymes and a memorable lyrical style. “Mi bruk up wid mi ex, him dead to me, I’m a widow,” she spits on the track.
She’s earned Kanye’s endorsement
Shenseea has risen through the ranks in her short career and now has been cosigned by the Yeezy mogul. She praised the multi-millionaire for his confidence in her abilities in an IG caption. “People will SAY they support me but SHOWING that support is what counts! @kanyewest I can’t thank you enough for it all! The insight, the exposure, opportunity, support etc. You could’ve picked any other female artiste but you chose ME!” Shenseea wrote.
“This is only the beginning”
According to Shenseea, Kanye himself told her these words about her promising crossover career. Her highly anticipated debut album is set to be released sometime later this year and with a superior management team in place and a Kanye West cosign, the sky’s truly the limit for the Trending Gyal.
