Dancehall Artist Skeng Drops Grimy Track ‘Gvnman Shift’

Dancehall newcomer Skeng has released a grimy new track called Gvnman Shift. Produced by Chemist Records and Raheef Music Group on the 1Matik riddim, the song is a grim warning to his enemies with the gunplay turned all the way up.

The Spanish Town native has been steadily building his name on the scene for the past year and his breakthrough seems to have come with this three minute testament to his temperament: “fully dark, fully charged and fully craab up” as he says on the song.

Directed by KD Visuals, the music video for Gvnman Shift is a display of black & white and infrared scenes shot in Skeng’s “Spain Town” stomping grounds. The camera follows him and his crew as he spits his fearless bars out in a yard, and cuts to clips of him waiting by a window, ready for war. “Intellectual murder people edition/ Cock and fire full ah gun like Remington/ Fully charge up, eager fi kill a man/ Ratty gang, fi mi gang/ P—y run up if yuh,” he ryhmes on the track’s first verse.

Meanwhile, Spanish Town success story Govana — who has the riddim’s title track 1Matik also gets a shoutout amid all the gunplay. But even without the nod, the track and visuals are currently gaining major momentum. Skeng’s other efforts so far include the tracks Brrrp, and Street Cred.

The music video racked up an impressive 200K views and counting overnight, and it seems Skeng’s ever-expanding fan base are here for the gangster vibes and gory delivery.

“Skeng lyrics are tougher than his guns,” one fan wrote, while another predicted a bright future for the Hot Topic deejay, “man songs a improve with every one him drop…da G ya ago big inna 2 years or less.”

Another fan slightly twisted Skeng’s gripping bars when making his own comment: “Frm yuh start shoot, yuh nuh miss bro.. literally DWEET,” they wrote.
