Ding Dong Shares New Song ‘L.I.E’ With Vocals From Shenseea

A master at combining creativity with storytelling, Ding Dong has dropped a new song, L.I.E, featuring Shenseea’s vocals, which catapulted to the top of YouTube’s Trending Chart after being released just two days ago.

The Justus and Romeich Entertainment-produced track, which is being hailed by fans as another masterpiece by the Gyalis Story artist, documents the ages-old issues of insecurity and distrust in relationships.

In the video, starred by Ding Dong and Shenseea’s makeup artist, Shanice Renee (who plays his lover), he draws her suspicions when his phone rings and an unknown caller is on the other end. Though he initially ignores the call, he is compelled to answer it when the unknown caller calls again, setting off a series of disagreements, which ultimately set the tone for the rest of the song.

The fittingly brisk yet melancholic instrumentals laid the foundation for Ding Dong’s pensiveness throughout the song, as he first begins by lamenting to his woman: “First and foremost, you seh mi neva admit seh mi did it, mi always have one a mi real G’s dem a phone call away fi tek di credit”. Throughout the rest of the song and particularly in the first verse, Ding Dong perfectly sheds light on how insecurities and distrust often leave the suspected cheater/offender in an impossibly difficult situation – where every explanation of suspicious behaviour is seen as a deceitfully crafted excuse.

He continued in that vein later on in the verse: “…Yuh seh mi jus a fake cry, swear pon mi kids yuh seh mi eye dem dry, mi kiss di cross and seh ‘God believe mi!’, yuh nuh care all when mi look inna di sky, Mi hol’ it out when yuh argue, all when yuh talk suicide, Ay, mi neva eva change up mi argument, nuh matta how you a tell mi seh lie…”

Shenseea then cradles the hook of the song with her mellifluous vocals, driving home Ding Dong’s lover’s perspective that, “You lie, you lie, you lie…” in a melodious arrangement. The rest of the over 4-minute-long video sees Ding Dong then having a direct conversation with his audience – the listener/viewer, as his lover has locked herself in a room in their apartment with his phone. He tells them of the drastic measures his lover takes to catch him in a lie, before surrendering his frustrations when he realizes his woman is all dressed up to leave the apartment. He seems to make peace with her, and it is implied that the two make love, bringing the tension-filled day to an enjoyable climax.

The song, at the time of this writing, still sits at number one on the trending charts, and has racked up nearly 200,000 views on YouTube.
