Dancehall starlet Shenseea has confirmed that she and Grammy and Oscar award-winning singer H.E.R. have a fire collaboration on the R&B songbird’s upcoming reggae album.

Back in February, the 24-year-old singers were seen in the studio cooking up new music while rocking comfy sweats, and Shenseea shared a cryptic caption to let their fans know what was coming.  “We’ll soon let them know what it’s gon’ be! In the meantime, we doing our thing,” she said on Instagram at the time.

Now, during her recent interview on Hot 97’s talk show Nessa On Air, the Blessed signer revealed she’s featured on the soon-to-be-released reggae suite. Host Nessa Diab was totally impressed by the Trending Gyal’s tenacity, and made sure to ask her next moves before the chat ended.

“I’m on H.E.R.’s album and I love her literally! She’s super talented. I’ve been around a lot of artists and I be like, ‘how are you even an artist’? With H.E.R., She’s an artist artist, she’s super talented. I’m in the studio and she’s telling me, yo, ‘Shenseea try this note’. I love that, she got passion and I would definitely work with H.E.R. again too. Love her,” Shenseea said.

H.E.R., whose real name is Gabriella Sarmiento Wilson, shared that she’s been a “huge fan” of Reggae since she was a child and eventually chose to celebrate the genre with a collection of original reggae songs. During a July interview with Ebro Darden on Apple Music 1, the Damage singer explained the concept behind the project. “I realized how much I loved Caribbean music and I’ve always known that, but just really getting into it and celebrating that culture,” she explained. “I really wanted to like go all in, so I’m working on that right now,” she said.

H.E.R. also said the album would arrive “very soon”, and has been teasing fans with island-tinged tracks for a while. In July last year, she dropped Do to Me which sampled Sister Nancy’s iconic classic Bam Bam

She was also featured on Skip Marley’s chart-topping lovers rock anthem Slow Down which went to No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Chart last year.

H.E.R. won the Grammy Award for Song Of The Year in March with her 2020 song, I Can’t Breathe. She also copped the Best R&B Song Award this year for Better Than I Imagined, a collab with Robert Glasper. Slow Down, her collab with Skip Marley, was also nominated in the same category.  In April 2021, she won the Oscar for Best Original Song with Fight For You from the movie Judas and the Black Messiah.

Shenseea has reportedly completed her debut album and has released the project’s first single, Run Run.
